Download PDF File Campsite Report 5-11 December 2016 This week we received 174 new campsite reports, of these, 36 were reports of people living in their vehicles throughout the city. To date, we have received reports of 469 different vehicles in which people are living. Please note, due to the possibility of severe weather conditions, some of the campsite cleanups planned for this week may be delayed. Severe Weather criteria: The Joint Office, as well as Multnomah County and Portland Emergency Management use the following criteria to determine when conditions pose a danger to exposed vulnerable people. Any one of the criteria below will result in a Severe Weather Notice if the conditions are forecasted to persist for four (4) hours or more during what would be severe weather shelter operating hours (8pm-7am): 1. Forecasted temperature or wind chill 25° F (-3.9° C) or below 2. Forecasted snow accumulations of 1.0 inch or more sticking to the ground in most locations. 3. Forecasted temperature at or below 32° F (0° C) with driving rain of 1.0 inch or more overnight. Coordinated Campsite Cleanup Update Last week we cleaned the following locations: • SE Hawthorne Bridgehead • NE 62nd and NE Holliday This week we are cleaning the following locations (weather permitting): • NE 138th and NE Airport Way • NE Wheeler between N Weidler St and NE Multnomah • Broadway Bridge Area (East side) • NE Everett/Davis between NE Grand and NE 7th • SW 13th and SW Montgomery-Cleaned 12/13/2016 • SE 82nd and SE Brooklyn-Cleaned 12/13/2016 • SE 2nd-3rd and SE Ash/Ankeny The next week (beginning)12/19/2016, the following locations are scheduled to be cleaned (locations to be posted 12/16/2016): This schedule is subject to change due to the possibility of severe weather. • SE 92nd and SE Flavel (under the Flavel bridge going over Johnson Creek and on PBOT ROW) • Peninsula Crossing Trail (near N Lombard) • SE 79th and SE Powell • SE 111th and SE Harold (Springwater Corridor Wetlands) • Washington Park (time permitting) Campsite Report Summary (please note the number next to the site are report totals for this week only): • I-205 MUP and other ODOT Properties throughout the city (23) Reports have been forwarded to ODOT .     This week, we received 387 new campsite reports. Of these, 112 were reports of people living in their vehicles throughout the City. To date, we have received reports of 571 different vehicles in which people are living. Please note, in the event of a Severe Winter Weather Declaration, the City will not require people to move during campsite cleanups. Sites that have been posted will be cleared of any trash and/or bio-hazard material during the severe weather, but occupants will not be required to move until the Severe Winter Weather Declaration has been lifted. Sites that have been posted but not completely cleaned due to the weather, will be reposted and cleaned in the coming weeks.     Bike Camps by Week and Location Index Community Cycling Center Bike Shops 1st Grade 2 2nd - 3rd Grade 3 4th - 5th Grade 4 6th - 8th grade 6 Sellwood cycle repair 2nd - 3rd Grade 8 4th - 5th Grade 9 6th - 8th grade 11 Northeast Portland Camps Pedalers: 1st grade Pedalers camp is where it all starts. For most at this age, this is their first ever Bike Camp and every ride is an adventure. Pedalers camp offers a safe setting for early riders to develop their basic skills while in an environment that can accommodate the playfulness that is special to this age. As with all camps, they will learn safe riding techniques for getting them on the road, but with added emphasis on riding in parks. Campers will build confidence in their bike handling skills through fun and games and will finish with improved control over their bike and an understanding of the rules of the road. Please note: Pedalers camp will ride on streets. To participate, riders must be able to consistently start and stop unassisted and ride in a straight line.
