L’azzurro che ha gareggiato di più ai Giochi resta Pietro Mennea con 32 apparizioni tra finali, semifinali, quarti e batterie in quattro gare diverse (100, 200, 4x100 e 4x400 m). L’atleta che ha vinto il maggior numero di medaglie è Ugo Frigerio : 3 ori e 1 bronzo tra il 1920 e il 1932. He was also the coach of Olympic and World Champion Sergey Bubka (UKR). Herbert Czingon is the National Pole Vault Coach for Germany. Sergey Bubka is a member of the IAAF Council and the International Olympic Committee. He was the1988 Olympic Champion, ten times World Champion (indoors and outdoors) in the pole vault and is the world record holder for the event.
