THE COUNTY COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, IN THE BOROUGH OF MELTON) CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2017 (PREAMBLE AMENDMENT) ORDER 2018

THE LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL hereby gives notice that it proposes to make an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 5, 32, 35, 45, 46, 47, 49 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, the effect of which will be:

1 To impose various amendments to the Preamble of the Consolidation Order 2017 for the Borough of Melton

A copy of the proposed Order, together with a plans illustrating the proposals and an explanatory statement giving the Council's reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected during normal office hours at my offices, Room 200, County Hall, Glenfield, LE3 8RA at the offices of Melton Borough Council, Parkside, Station Approach, Burton Street, , LE13 1GH. Statement of Reasons

The Leicestershire County Council proposes to change the Leicestershire County Council Consolidation Orders 2017 for Blaby, Charnwood, Harborough, & Bosworth, Melton, North West Leicestershire and & Borough and Districts.

This proposal is to amend the Parts I to X, and Schedule 1. It also proposes to introduce a Part XI. The changes are required to ensure that the Traffic Regulation Orders are effective in their application to the enforcement of on-street parking restrictions across the County.

The amendments include an update to: - The interpretation with the introduction of further definitions; - The prohibition of stopping now includes red routes and urban clearways; - Permitted parking places introduces a manner of standing and amends the power who can suspend a parking place; - Pedestrian zones the prohibition has been clarified; - The exemptions have been amended to include a non-exemption when a prohibition of driving is in effect as a general exemption and for pedestrian zones, street trading exemption included; - Disc Parking has now been included; - Disc Parking has now been included in Schedule 1; - Article references and typographical errors amended.

The order does not propose to amend or introduce any further parking restrictions.
