Pupil premium and family support Students nationally receive pupil premium funding for the following –

Eligibility

Ever 6 FSM

The pupil premium will include pupils recorded in the school census who are known to have been eligible for free school meals (FSM) in any of the previous 6 years.

Children adopted from care or who have left care

The pupil premium for will include pupils recorded in the school census and alternative provision census who were looked after by an English or Welsh local authority immediately before being adopted, or who left local authority care on a special guardianship order or child arrangements order (previously known as a residence order). These are collectively referred to as post-LAC in these conditions of grant.

Ever 5 service child

For the purposes of these grant conditions, ever 5 service child means a pupil recorded in the school census who was eligible for the service child premium in any of the previous 4 years as well as those recorded as a service child for the first time.

Applying for FREE SCHOOL MEALS

If your child is under 19 and in full-time education, you may be able to get free school meals for them if you get one of these benefits:

 Income Based Job Seekers Allowance  Income Support (IS)  Income-related Employment and Support Allowance  Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)  Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit  Support under part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 if you’re an asylum seeker  Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit  Children who receive Income Support (IS) or Income Based Jobseekers Allowance in their own right can also get free school meals.

IF YOUR CHILD HAS RECEIVED FREE SCHOOL MEALS AT ANY TIME DURING THE PAST 6 YEARS OR NOW FOR THE FIRST TIME THE COLLEGE WILL ALSO RECEIVE PUPIL PREMIUM FUNDING THAT WILL BE USED TO GIVE YOUR CHILD/CHILDREN ACCESS TO RESOURCES AND OPPORTUNITIES TO AID PROGRESS, WELL- BRING AND SAFETY DURING THEIR TIME AT JOHN FERNELEY COLLEGE. THIS OFFER IS ALSO OPEN TO THOSE THAT ARE PART OF SERVICES FAMILIES OR LOOKED AFTER.

5) Storehouse at The Fox

What is Storehouse? Storehouse offers food, clothing, bedding, baby equipment and other household items to those living in the borough of Melton who are in need and who have been referred by one of the local agencies.

IF YOU WANT TO BE REFERRED PLEASE CONTACT MR KRUSE – He will be happy to go through and complete referrals with you. Alternatively, anyone can visit during opening times to ask how they can receive support.

We are based at: The Fox Inn 9 Street John Ferneley has a small amount of food available for emergencies so 01664 669146 please contact Mr Kruse if you are in need of food urgently as he will Normal opening times are: provide support. Mondays, 10am–1pm Wednesdays, 10am–1pm Fridays, 1–4pm (SOUPER Fridays from 1:30pm)

6) The college is also able to give ‘one off’ emergency food supplies for families that are in immediate need – When the supplies are given out we will ask if there could be a further need in the future and if so we will refer families to Storehouse so they can assist in the longer term. Families do not have to be referred but we can only give out ONE emergency food parcel per family before having to pass on to Storehouse

7) The Grove

Breakfast club is on EVERY DAY for students from about 8am until 8.30am – Students and parents are welcome to come in and eat or just have a coffee and talk to available staff. So, if you have any children at The Grove / Oasis OR John Ferneley take up the offer to pop in and have breakfast (on the house) and talk to the friendly staff who will be more than happy to help answer any questions.
