A matriculated student must follow the curriculum of the program at the time of matriculation. Nashua Community College is a smoke-free campus. This catalog is current as of August 2016 President’s Message Welcome to Nashua Community College, we are so pleased to have you as a student! NCC is your college and we are here to help you achieve your higher education goals. Whether you are preparing to transfer to a four-year college or university, gearing up to enter the workforce, or looking to reinvent yourself, you will find that anything is possible at NCC. We care about your success. On campus or online, you will find yourself surrounded by our dedicated faculty. We offer a number of academic services to assist and encourage PHOTOGRAPH you as you become a confident and independent student. You will also find opportunities to build friendships and develop leadership skills through our numerous campus clubs and service projects, or as a member of our Student Senate. Our academic programs are as diverse as the students that we serve. Our partnerships with area industries give students a unique perspective in their fields of study, often allowing them to gain real world experience to further enhance their academic journey. Students can choose from a variety of associate degree and certificate programs, with six Lucille A. Jordan of our programs now being offered entirely online. Vision Nashua Community College (NCC) will continue to be the preferred provider of two-year, post-secondary education in the Nashua Region and evolve with the educational needs for lifelong learning. Educated Person Nashua Community College helps students improve their lives and become more responsible as informed citizens and educated persons. The college community has defined a set of essential skills to maximize one’s role as a contributing member of society. Among those skills are communications, information literacy, scientific reasoning, quantitative analysis, ethical responsibility, critical thinking, global connectedness, and tolerance for ambiguity.     General Studies in Health Associate in Science Why choose General Studies in Health ? The Associate in Science in General Studies Health has been designed for students who have a desire to work in the health care industry or allied health, but who have not yet chosen a specific health field or area of interest. The first year includes courses that would be required for general education as well as a career in the healthcare field. At the end of the first year, students will have the option of transferring to another associate degree program to complete their course work in a specific field or continue on to receive their associate degree with a focus on health. The second year is flexible for students to choose courses that would then transfer to a 4 year college in the field of their choice. With careful planning, the student will be able to earn credits that will fit their intended field of study. Matriculated students will work with a faculty advisor to design a program of study that meets the individual’s needs.     The University System of New Hampshire Policy on Pass/Fail coursework March 26, 2020 The University System of NH institutions are eager to welcome students in the Fall 2020. We are earnestly adapting plans to solidify that effort, anticipating that much flexibility in approach will continue as we navigate the current uncertainties that we are facing as a state and as a nation. Our Admissions teams are available and ready to address enrollment questions and are particularly sensitive to the needs of NH students who are currently attending out of state institutions yet may be seeking a higher education alternative closer to home. All of our institutions want to be supportive of the challenges students and families are facing with completing their coursework and passing online courses. We are flexible in our approach to Pass/Fail curriculum and how students will be evaluated for acceptance and scholarships in the Fall 2020. Some frequently asked questions: Are University of NH, Keene State College, Plymouth State University and Granite State College planning to be open for face-to-face classes next fall? YES. However, backup plans including online coursework is being prepared. Are all 4 schools still recruiting and accepting new students for fall 2020? YES. Granite State College has a continuous application and review process and year-round admissions and does not require deposits upon acceptance. For UNH, Keene State College and Plymouth State University the deposit deadline is June 1, 2020. With that said, Admissions will work with a student's individual situation. Following work with legislators and accreditors, the merged entity is intended to become a college within UNH and will retain the name Granite State College.     NEWS RELEASE Contact: Cheryl Paiva FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 603-230-0089 June 22, 2021 NHHEAF Network Awards $175,000 in Scholarships to NH College Students After record number of applications, number of award grantees more than doubled (Concord, N.H.) – The New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation (NHHEAF) Network announced today that it has awarded a total of $175,000 in scholarships to New Hampshire residents who will be juniors and seniors in college for the 2021-’22 academic year. The nonprofit organization, which has helped Granite State students and families plan and pay for college since 1962, began accepting applications for the NHHEAF Scholarship program in March, initially aiming to award 15 students each a $5,000 scholarship – a total of $75,000 in aid. “We received a record number of applications for our scholarship program this year, and because of the individual character demonstrated – as well as the need – we were thrilled to be able to more than double the number of scholarships awarded – providing 35 students each with $5,000 in funding for the coming school year,” said Christiana Thornton, President and CEO of the NHHEAF Network.
