Easter season we say with all assurance "Christ is Risen!" We like happy endings in our novels, but we are convinced that life must be reasonable and have an outcome worthy of it. It is not reasonable to believe that a few nails and a Roman spear should end that glorious spirit we call Christ; that He should say, "It is finished," and that were the end of it. That is not reasonable. We want a worthy end. And there is not worthy end for life save the vindication of the spiritual, save the eternity of things unseen. The end of our human pilgrimage for us is what it was for Him, a rendezvous with life. Christ is risen! And he has begotten in us a living hope through His resurrection. By Him we are united to that which endures. In Him we live for that which abides. Because He lives-because He was, is eternal- we who share His life will "live also" even as He said. by Joe Duffy The MCB-1 Seabees did just what everyone expected them to do in the post-season basketball tournament when they bowled over all their opponents then topped off their performance with a 73-45 trouncing of the Hospital-Dental combine in the tournament final for the title of champions. The starting five of the twin Rechter boys, Sam and Ben, Al Davison, Vince Clavon and Ernie Arceneaux proved to be too much for the opposition to stop. Coach Lee Brooks shuffled his starters with a strong reserve bench, sending in substitutes at intervals to keep his attack in top form. Butch Garlits and Don Winslow were maneuvered in and out of the lineup in the title game as the Seabee point splurge rolled on. The Seabees gained the finals by a convincing 82-36 win over the Naval Station Indians, and drew the Hospital-Dental quintet as op- ponents by the Corpsmen's 67-54 victory over the VU-10 Mallards in the semi-finals. The Corpsmen drew first blood in the title game when Tom Sutter swished an overhand shot for a two-pointer and the temporary lead with less than a minute on the clock, but the cheers had hardly died down before a jump shot by Ben Rechter tied it up. The Seabee shot- makers then went on a shooting spree that netted a 16-5 first quarter lead, and the victory ride was set in motion. Ben Rechter and Vince Clavon engineered the win with a steady barrage of shots that tallied 21 and 18 respectfully, while the whole team combined to rule the backboards.
