Intel Corporation (USA) This whole week offers a great opportunity to learn about the latest research in image sens- ing, processing, display, and perception from leading experts from around the world, who innovate and collaborate on the design of imaging systems for consumer photography, autonomous driving, medical imaging, the arts and entertainment, scientific applications, and many other fields. 2019 Short Course Co-Chair This year we have organised special theme days in Autonomous Vehicle Imaging, 3D Jonathan B. Phillips Imaging, and AR/VR and Lightfield Imaging to help provide a focus on these important Google, Inc. (USA) emerging areas. These, as well as “virtual themes” of medical imaging and deep learning, are denoted in the Combined Paper Schedule beginning on page 23. We encourage you to take full advantage of the many special events and networking opportunities available at the symposium, including the plenary presentations, theme-day 2019 Short Course symposium-wide special sessions, individual conference keynotes (see full list on page 10), Co-Chair the Monday evening EI Reception and 3D Theatre, Tuesday’s Demonstration Session, Wednesday’s Interactive (Poster) Paper Session and Meet the Future event, and other spe- Susan Farnand cial events arranged by various conferences.
