BDO DARTS LIVE AND EXCLUSIVE ON SETANTA SPORTS The BDO Grand Prix is played exclusively on the Winmau Blade III The 2008 Winmau BDO BRITISH CLASSIC – the penultimate tournament in the BDO International Grand Prix Series of five major events - has attracted record entries, and the Last 8 in the Men’s Singles will be seen live and exclusively on Setanta Sports from the Lighthouse Theatre, Kettering Leisure Village on Saturday, July 26th from 7.30PM to Midnight. The world class line-up will include the legendary ‘King of Bling’ BOBBY GEORGE and Scotland’s ‘Dream Boy’ GARY ANDERSON, currently heading the BDO International Grand Prix table on 24 points. He will be joined by England’s SCOTT WAITES, the reigning BDO Gold Cup Champion, who is currently in sec- ond place on 15 points, and reigning Lakeside World Professional Darts Champion MARK WEBSTER of Wales, currently on 9 points after finishing runner-up to Gary Anderson in this year’s Welsh Open – the first tournament in the Grand Prix series. Mark will be one of five BDO World Professional Dart Champions competing in the BDO British Classic – the others being England’s MARTIN ADAMS, TED HANKEY, JOHN BOY WALTON and seven times Women’s World Champion TRINA GULLIVER. Live and exclusive TV coverage by Setanta Sports will feature the Men’s Singles from the Quarter-Finals to the Final from 7.30PM to Midnight – and to be in the TV audience, non-playing spectators are welcome to attend for £6 each at the door (before 4PM) and £10 each at the door (after 4PM). The BDO British Classic is sponsored by the Winmau Dartboard Company – also sponsors of World Champions Mark Webster and Trina Gulliver - and is the highlight of a whole weekend of darts in the Main Arena of Kettering Leisure Village over the weekend of July 26th and 27th. WDF World Championships Qualification Criteria
2022 Lakeside WDF World Championships – Seniors – Qualification Criteria Men and Women • The Men’s 2022 Lakeside WDF World Championship shall be made up of 48 players • The Women’s 2022 Lakeside WDF World Championship shall be made up of 24 players • The qualification period for both tournaments shall be January 1 2020 to December 6 2021 inclusive • Invitations shall be sent to all players following the conclusion of the 2021 WDF World Masters The following criteria shall be used to determine which players shall receive an invitation to play in the 2022 Lakeside WDF World Championships. Players shall qualify in the order detailed below. MEN’S QUALIFICATION CRITERIA Men that play in the 2022 PDC World Darts Championship shall not be eligible to play in the 2022 Lakeside WDF World Championship. 1a). 2009 BDO WINMAU WORLD MASTERS The 2009 BDO WINMAU WORLD MASTERS , in association with John Smith’s and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, will be played at The Spa Bridlington on September 4 th , 5 th & 6 th - with the last 16 in the Men’s World Masters enjoying extensive BBC TV coverage over the weekend of Saturday, September 5 th and Sunday, September 6 th . PAGE 2 The 2009 BDO Winmau World Masters will once again be the richest two-day tournament on terrestrial TV with record-breaking prize money, and the September dates have been agreed in order to provide the 2009 World Masters with the best possible scheduling times from BBC TV. They will also provide a longer gap between the World Masters and the BDO Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships, scheduled for nine consecutive days on BBC TV from January 2 nd to 10 th , 2010. “We are delighted that the BBC are screening the 36 th BDO Winmau World Masters on a weekend that will provide us with the optimum amount of airtime on both the Saturday and Sunday”, says Olly Croft, Managing Director of BDO Enterprises Ltd. “The Masters always enjoys excellent TV audiences. Last year it attracted an average audience of 1 million on the Saturday with a peak of 1.5m. On Sunday the average was 1.2m with a peak of 1.8m for the final. “We will be looking to build on those figures this year and, with the World Master (or standby player) gaining entry to the 2010 World Pro, there is an important and solid link between the BDO’s two top BBC televised majors.” Staged and promoted by the British Darts Organisation, the Winmau World Masters have been played in Bridlington since 2002 and will be returning to The Spa for the second year since its £20 million re-development.
