Then the pandemic launched our school into Gifts at a Glance uncharted territory. Since March, our school community has adapted to unprece- dented circumstances in many ways. As you read in the Summer/Fall 2020 issue of The Westonian, Westonians of all ages have risen beautifully to the challenges of this extraordinary time. Teachers, adminis- trators, staff, and students have all done their part. In addition, this report honors the 10.4% of total raised ($150,121) tremendous generosity of Westtown alums, parents, parents of alums, grandparents, were gifts up to $499 and other friends, who stepped forward — in some cases repeatedly — to ensure that our school could provide an education worthy of our mission at this difficult time. The pages that follow describe and honor the support given to Westtown in 2019–20, and the significant financial commitment of our generous donors. 24.3% In the midst of this pandemic, you helped us raise more than $4 million for of total raised ($352,533) were gifts from $500–$2,499 Westtown. Indeed, you helped us set a Westtown Fund record at $1,448,543, including gifts to support financial aid, program, and operations. In addition, EITC donors contributed nearly $500,000, directly impacting our scholarship program. Realized bequests and other gifts were given to support scholarships, our Full Access program, the Center for the Living Arts, and other campus facilities and programs. 22.9% of total raised ($332,187) In May, as the pandemic raged, we gathered our Alumni/ae/x community online to were gifts from $2,500–$9,999 celebrate our school. While we mourned the loss of our on-campus Alums Weekend, Zoom allowed Westonians to share their musical talents, join in Meeting for Worship, and spend time in community with each other. Hundreds of Westonians from all over the world joined us for four days of virtual events and gatherings — including a special 42.4% celebration for Ernie Schoch! While we all looked forward to being face-to-face on our of total raised ($613,701) were gifts of $10,000+ campus, I know alums were pleased to gather online for this annual celebration. Our school remains financially strong even during this crisis, as evidenced by an endowment that reached $104 million as of June 30, 2020. Both her grandfather and her mother's grandfather were wealthy Alabamians. The common belief was that Tallulah received much of her acting talent from her father, but accounts of her mother1s younger days show proof that both of her parents were vivacious and talented. A stranger once told Tallulah, "Your mother was the most beautiful thing that ever lived. Many people have said you get your acting talent from your father, but I disagree. I was at school with Ada Eugenia and I knew Will well. Did you know that she could faint on 1 cue?11 Tallulahfs mother possessed grace and beauty and was quite flamboyant. She loved beautiful clothes and enjoyed creating a ruckus in her own Southern world.* Indeed, Tallulah inherited her mother's joy in turning social taboos upside down.

    Ronald Davis Oral History Collection on the Performing Arts

    Oral History Collection on the Performing Arts in America Southern Methodist University The Southern Methodist University Oral History Program was begun in 1972 and is part of the University’s DeGolyer Institute for American Studies. The goal is to gather primary source material for future writers and cultural historians on all branches of the performing arts- opera, ballet, the concert stage, theatre, films, radio, television, burlesque, vaudeville, popular music, jazz, the circus, and miscellaneous amateur and local productions. The Collection is particularly strong, however, in the areas of motion pictures and popular music and includes interviews with celebrated performers as well as a wide variety of behind-the-scenes personnel, several of whom are now deceased. Most interviews are biographical in nature although some are focused exclusively on a single topic of historical importance. The Program aims at balancing national developments with examples from local history. Interviews with members of the Dallas Little Theatre, therefore, serve to illustrate a nation-wide movement, while film exhibition across the country is exemplified by the Interstate Theater Circuit of Texas. The interviews have all been conducted by trained historians, who attempt to view artistic achievements against a broad social and cultural backdrop. Many of the persons interviewed, because of educational limitations or various extenuating circumstances, would never write down their experiences, and therefore valuable information on our nation’s cultural heritage would be lost if it were not for the S.M.U. Oral History Program. Interviewees are selected on the strength of (1) their contribution to the performing arts in America, (2) their unique position in a given art form, and (3) availability.

The myth of the unbeatable fighter is just that, a myth. In what will go down as the single most memorable UFC fight in history, Ronda Rousey was not only defeated, but systematically destroyed by a fighter and a coaching staff that had spent years preparing for that night. On 2/28, Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey were the two co-headliners on a show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The idea was that Holm, a former world boxing champion, would impressively knock out Raquel Pennington, a .500 level fighter who was known for exchanging blows and not taking her down. Rousey was there to face Cat Zingano, a fight that was supposed to be the hardest one of her career. Holm looked unimpressive, barely squeaking by in a split decision. Rousey beat Zingano with an armbar in 14 seconds.

In the Hard Justice, Bernard arrives at Esoteria airport, and after clearing the numerous security checkpoints, getting stopped at each of them Hard Justice being nervous.
