(May 25, 2019) – Hundreds of aviation enthusiasts, young and old each year flock to Tuskegee’s annual Memorial Day Fly-In at the historic Moton Field Municipal Airport. This year is no exception. Golden Eagle Aviation partners with the City of Tuskegee are bringing the excitement of flying to local residents and surrounding communities. The 52nd Annual Memorial Day Fly-In Celebration takes place on Saturday, May 25th at 1721 General B. O. Davis Jr. Drive in Tuskegee. On hand for visitors will be vintage and homebuilt aircrafts, free airplane rides, food vendors, and tours of the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site museum. This popular event is a fun way for children and adults to experience the thrill of flight and to learn more about our country’s military and aviation history. Moton Field was the World War II training site of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen. Come and experience the best with family and friends at this spectacular Fly-In! Saturday, May 25, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Dr. William (Bill) Winston, owner and CEO of Golden Eagle Aviation and former US Air Force fighter pilot, will be on hand. This year’s Fly-In will be held in honor of former- original Tuskegee Airmen, LT. Colonel Herbert Carter for his twenty-six years of service in the United States Air Force and his contributions to Moton Field. Carter flew seventy- seven missions with the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II. He passed away on November 8, 2012 at the age of 93 and his legacy lives on. Other events include: • Fly-in activities for the entire family • Airplane rides for children • Water slides • Aeronautic displays and Airmen movies • Tours of the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site and more! All activities are FREE and open to the public. To secure a child’s flying slot, the child will need to arrive with his/her parent or legal guardian at the check-in table on Saturday.
