Discussion of Voting Procedure – Competing Coaches will not be the room

Chris Next step in coaching evolution One and done opportunity as he only had one child Love the opportunity to work with the individuals Ideal ratio 3-1 ratio. Dryland and atoms counted both ADM based and follow USA hockey Plan for behavior challenges. Addressed with other coaches other . Same model as 10U this year. Coaching philosophy – most important that the kids have fun second develop their individual skills. Individual development – working with Bruce in atoms. Summer Coaches expected to lead by example Kids developed to be leader 10U team participating in a CHC tournament – evaluate how we “stack up”. Important to have a fair mix of team level games Reworded by Bruce….specific number of games to compete….no, because we will never be able to meet the game to practice ratio. Address distance issue- 90 minute radius.

Mike Why – passion for the sport of hockey that he would like to pass on to the next generation. Loves to see the progression and development over the years. Give them the tools to succeed at the next level. # Learned so much in being an assistant coach under Bruce. 10 years with griffin Level 4 cert this summer Positive coaching alliance double gold coaching certification Firm believer in ADM. Schedule appropriate # of games and practices. 16-20 games adequate. 2:1 ratio ideal but with limited ice availability. Not included . #1 priority =- kids are in a safe environment. Having fun, engaging = growth for the program Show parents at the beginning of season = schedule games, practices etc. Locker room monitor = head coaches responsibility Proactive coach – long term plan in place….in order to achieve, must have short term goals in place. Chc tournament – timing issues = conflicts with house program championship weekend Difficult to qualify – rinks distance is an issue. 1 hour travel time ideal don’t like to spend more time in the car than the kids spend on the ice. Discipline challenges / conflicts with kids on ice. Come together and establish that we are on one team and we are there to make each other better. Separate kids if issues persist. Personal conflicts / own child = child is a skater just like everyone else is. Attendance issues – not penalize skaters – encourage only. Explain at the beginning of the year more ice time the better. Roger Grillos = 30 game – assumed he is speaking of teams who’s season started prior to ours. Learned better in practice. RG – individuals get drafted not teams: kids scoring is a natural instincts. Good hockey habits need to be instilled at a young age. If defenders score, other players on the team can get frustrated. Telling kids to hold back and not score can be good sportsmanship if the score is getting run up.

Todd – Coaching for (2) years. Continuing w/ Level 3 this summer. Pre-Season Goals of Summer Activities, both on ice and off ice, September street hockey for refresher Season Goals – Off Ice Practice, 25-35 Games during the season, 1-2 Tournaments, Games Starting in Late October, At least (1) larger venue game Individual Games – Kids set goals in a journal, not required but encouraged, goals can be technique, performance or attitude Goals will be for each game, ½ way through the season and at the conclusion of the season Why – Love of the game, Development of Andy Thoughts on Body Checking – Agree with Body Checking, Drills should reflect body contact. Philosophy – Team Play, Individual Skill Development, Practice to Game Ratio – 2.5 / 3 - 1 Ration Active or Proactive – Proactive, Always prepping. React as needed Biggest Difference in coaching 10u – 12u – Kids are bigger, more mature, more of a cognitive development, better attention levels, more of a challenge. CHC Tournaments – Up front with family, needs to be an “” commitment Would you be an assistant - Yes What have you done to improve yourself as a coach – USA Hockey Curriculum, Reading Hockey Books, Watching Hockey Videos, and Research ahead of practices

George – As a coach, nothing makes be happier then stepping on the ice and seeing these kids get better. Games don’t matter, practices make kids better. Practices are more fun. 16-20 Games Locally, not necessary to travel distances Made great friends though Griffin, It’s all about making kids better at hockey Use the USA Hockey Resources, Helped make me the coach I am today. CHC Tournaments – Not a priority, Ok with MA & RI, Stay Locally Would you be an assistant – Yes Other tournaments – Yes, Lakers Deal with Non Responsive Players – Talk to them one on one, talk to a parent Do you consider travel and house practices the same? - Yes, Practice is Practice Thought into conflicts with not having own kids in Griffin – Yes, Allison will take over the responsibility Will you partake in off ice practices – Yes
