ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE Elm Grove Travel Service is proud to be the Milwaukee Ballet’s Summer Program travel agency. The lowest airfare discounts are available by calling the toll-free number 1-800-782-7073. Identify yourself as a Milwaukee Ballet summer student or family member.

Transportation from the airport to the Residence Hall is everyone’s individual responsibility. Taxi and discount shuttle service is available from the airport to the Residence Halls and popular ride share services are also available. A representative from the Milwaukee Ballet will be available to greet students at baggage claim area #4 on Sunday, July 7 from 12:00p.m.-4:00p.m. with a Milwaukee Ballet sign. The representative can help coordinate ride sharing. Please try to make your arrival during this time. You must complete and return the bottom portion of the travel flyer, which is sent with the confirmation packet, to be assisted by the MB representative. Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport is located south of downtown Milwaukee and is approximately 15 miles south of UWM-Sandburg Halls. Mitchell Airport is neither large nor complicated and can be easily navigated by the most novice travelers. The housing staff will assist students in coordinating rides to the airport on Saturday, July 27. Student arrival and departure times at the Sandburg Residence Hall are as follows:

ARRIVAL at the UW-Milwaukee Residence Halls Sunday, July 7 1:00-5:00pm

DEPARTURE from the UW-Milwaukee Residence Halls Saturday, July 27 No later than 11:00am

Please plan for moving your student out of the Residence Hall (if applicable). If you wish for your child to stay overnight at a hotel with you upon arriving to see Emergence, you must remove all his/her belongings and he/she will become a non-Residence Hall student at that time, but still able to ride the buses as scheduled. As the program end draws near, students must have an “all or nothing” approach to their housing. Checking out of the Residence Halls prior to Saturday, July 27 must be arranged with the Residence Hall manager at least 48 hours in advance of the early check-out. There is no discount given on housing costs for early departure unless the departure is due to illness or injury and the student is withdrawing from the entire program.

WELCOME MEETING Milwaukee Ballet Resident Assistants will be waiting to welcome students staying at UWM-Sandburg Halls upon their arrival to the Residence Hall. They can answer questions and help direct students. There will be a welcome meeting for ALL Summer Program students (Residence Hall and Non-Residence Hall) on Sunday, July 7 at 6:00 p.m. Introductions of key personnel, rules and regulations, and an orientation tour will be part of the welcome meeting agenda. Parents are welcome to attend.

WEEKLY ACTIVITIES AND WEEKEND EXCURSIONS Residence Hall and Non-Residence Hall students are welcome to participate in all extracurricular activities planned by MB. During the week, the Resident Assistant staff will plan activities at or near the Residence Halls that will include things like walks to the beach, movies, volleyball, etc. for students after they return from class.

Each weekend more extensive excursions will be planned, with costs for admission and bus transportation approximated below. Specific cost and schedule information for the excursions will be available for the students in May. The tentative schedule and approximate fees for these trips are:

Inappropriate actions or language will NOT be tolerated. Students are also expected to attend ALL classes and rehearsals unless illness or injury prevents them from doing so.

Students are expected to focus on their dance training. While fun, social activities are encouraged, any student showing lack of sound judgment may be dismissed from the program without refund.

Violation of Milwaukee Ballet rules or rules of UWM-University Housing or any laws of the State of Wisconsin may result in immediate dismissal from the program with no tuition or housing refund.

• If the student’s conduct has been injurious or potentially injurious to the University or Milwaukee Ballet

ILLNESS OR INJURY The Milwaukee Ballet Pre-Professional program involves 6-8 hours of dancing each day. We strongly recommend students arrive to the program ready to work. To prevent injury, we discourage students from taking too much time off before arriving to the program. Once the program begins, if a student feels that he/she cannot attend class, he/she must notify the School Office before his/her first class of the day begins. Students are expected to observe class if they are injured but still feeling well enough to go out. Physicians and physical therapists from the Froedtert Sports Medicine Center and the Medical College of Wisconsin will be available once a week at the Milwaukee Ballet studios for a free consultation for the summer students. A sign-up sheet will be posted on the bulletin board at the studios. Students who require immediate medical attention will be taken to the Froedtert center, or Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital, by a member of the Milwaukee Ballet staff. If the student is under 18 years of age, parents will be contacted in advance. If such action is taken, your medical insurance will be used.

Students who become too injured or ill to complete the program will be sent home with a partial refund, upon receipt of a doctor’s letter within 10 business days of the injury, according to the following schedule: 1. Deposits ($300 tuition, $300 housing) and $25 registration fee are non-refundable for any reason. 2. If an injury or illness prevents a student from arriving for the program and is reported by Friday, June 7, 2019, 100% of the balance paid, less the deposits and registration fee, will be refunded. 3. If an injury or illness requires a student to leave the program early, or if it is reported after June 7, the amount of unused fees will be calculated, and the billed party will receive 50% of the unused fees, less the deposit and registration fee.

Please do not hesitate to contact us as listed below if you have any questions. We are pleased you are considering joining us for the summer and we are looking forward to getting to know you better!
