What a cool kid. Tell him that I loved his video. My pumpkin seeds are still in their package! Dragging a hose to the neighbors house makes for a lazy garden! I score super high on aspergers tests, but my ego overpowers it. Still working on keeping it in check. And I love watering with a can too. Very therapeutic.

Luke is my favorite part of these videos!!! I have a boy the same age, but he does not speak at all...... maybe someday..:-)) Luke, you are a fantastic farmer!!!

Blake Kirby 7 months ago

Wow, it's Monday morning and I'm getting a chance to read the comments on this video! Thank you all for your sincere and kind comments to Luke. We read the comments to Luke from time to time. He doesn't make a big deal about it, but I can tell that he is very pleased to have you join him on this gardening journey. He loves caring for the Pumpkin plants. Very often he'll say "I need to water my Pumpkins"... He won't leave us alone until the job is done. I try to help him with the hose, but he gets frustrated because he likes to do it with the watering can! LOL ... Thanks again, you are wonderful people.

Hide replies

MollyDolly 7 months ago (edited)

Please tell Luke I totally understand the watering can preference! Me, too!! The way the water sprinkles out is way more fun! Maybe Luke has started a watering can movement! :-)

Blake Kirby 7 months ago

He's the same way in the garden. I have a hose prepared with a sprinkler head right next to his garden bed. He'll use it to fill the can instead of just watering the bed LOL ... he has one can in the garden and another on the front porch that he takes to the Pumpkin patch. Mama likes the watering cans too. Whenever we are at the flea markets we look for 'em.

Autism is the foundation to a successful pumpkin plant. Luke has a slight advantage over me. I'm only half autistic....and 1/16th Cherokee. :)

Reply

Blake Kirby 7 months ago

Luke has a slight advantage over many of us on a lot of things. He doesn't get caught up in senseless hustle... life is simple. We try to get him to hurry about some things but it doesn't matter to him. He just wants to know that you love him... and wants to let you know that it's time to take care of the garden. .. and by the way, Luke is about 1/32th Cherokee :)

201. Our son completely off meds suffering/dying from "Autistic Catatonia" heartbreaking ECT only hope by Autisim and catatonia (self-injury) ECT the new hope for fatal condition • 1,982 views via YouTube Capture Fernanda Oliveira 2 months ago

It's just terrible to read thru the commments.. people can be so ignorant, insensitive..even other parents acting like judgemental nuts..wow.this is the second time I comment on a video like this, and then I get another set of hate comments from people who have no clue what this life is really like, and they comment as if they were experts. They just go around hurting people with words..they have no idea of the heartbreak it is to deal with Autism, with a child who self harms, a human being that will never grow older mentally..my son could be just like the boy on the video when he is older, and he was not created to suffer. My son is who he is. And he is very much loved and protected. As long as I live I will do whatever it takes to keep him happy and safe. Most of all, keep him as far away as possible from such hatred full world. Like myself, there is an army of parents out there willing to shield

16 their children from this hate. So, it may be easy to type things online, but there are so many of us out there, and will meet you face to face one day, we will recognize your attitude and possibly hear something from you. Rest assured, you will hear back from us, too.

Man its pretty anachronistic to play this kind of music infront of a human being who seems to be created just to suffer.

Donkey 2 months ago

Seriously this is like some sick dark comedy......

I am so sorry. I understand the pain you must certainly be going through. I don't see an update showing whether or not the ECT therapy helped your son. I am trying to find out as much as possible about this to make a decision myself on whether or not this is the right treatment. Please respond. honey bär 6 months ago

I don't need to be fucking "prayed" for. People don't die from autism. They don't even suffer with it. They suffer from shit parents like you who take videos/pictures of them just trying to exist without you acting like they have some sort of disease.

Hide replies 94 halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago you've made a really ignorant comment, do yourself some research before stating things like "people with autism don't suffer from it". Clearly its something the individuals themselves suffer from. If you are trolling then you were successful well done, if not then i am disgusted. honey bär 4 months ago

An autistic person telling a shit parent that autistic people don't suffer from autism is "trolling." I've heard everything. CLEARLY you need to dismember yourself. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär I Never accused you of trolling, and just because you're autistic that does'nt mean you mean you know everything about it either. There are different spectrums/levels of autism. Some autistics harm them self, and suffer in other non-physical ways like speaking with people and social interaction for example. Just because you don't suffer from it does not mean others do not suffer from it either. honey bär 4 months ago

"If you are trolling then you were successful well done" = "i never accused you of trolling" Yes it does? lmfao There aren't different "levels of autism." All of us are different, and thus have different traits. Also not being good at social interaction isn't "suffering." Don't tell an autistic person that you know more about autism than we do. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

17

+honey bär Do you notice the "if" part?? No accusation there only assumption with implied optional response if you were trolling. And yes there are different levels of autism, clearly you don't know the difference between high functioning and low functioning autism. You are just being ignorant towards what suffering really means. Even after my comment you still wish to remain ignorant. honey bär 4 months ago

Yeah, no. "High functioning?" and "low functioning" autistic people don't exist. We aren't color palettes. We're ice cream sundaes. Some autistics stim, some don't. Some of us have meltdowns, shutdowns, both or neither. Some of us are really good at art, or math, or bad at either or both. Also gotta ask, are you yourself autistic? halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär go and do a quick google search, see some search results and you will see how WRONG you are... You still think all autistics are like you and that you represent all of them. WOW. Do you still think they don't suffer from it? honey bär 4 months ago

You can't suffer from seeing the world differently. Also, answer my question. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär That's not all autism means, you are missing the point and your question is irrelevant. You remain ignorant towards everything i say so why should i do you the favour of answering your irrelevant question? honey bär 4 months ago

So that means you're not autistic? Gotcha. In that case, shut the fuck up because anything you say pertaining to autism is irrelevant anyway. Stop defining what autism is for us and get a god damn hobby. I don't need to be told by an allistic know-it-all that I'm suffering simply for existing. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär i never claimed you were suffering simply for existing. There is a difference between defining what autism is and correcting your untrue interpretations of it. Infact i am beginning to doubt you actually have autism. Your attitude seems negative and biased towards your own personal beliefs vs actual facts. Believing in your own interpretations of what autism actual means does not change the facts and actual reality of what it means. honey bär 4 months ago

"I am beginning to doubt you're actually autistic" OH LAWDY honey bär 4 months ago

+halooLOo KiDz also "Your attitude seems negative and biased towards your own personal beliefs vs actual facts" you're literally an allistic person telling me, AN AUTISTIC PERSON, that autistic people suffer from their neurotype and that high/low functioning labels are correct man, allistic people are on drugs halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

18

+honey bär Yes, some autistic people do infact suffer from autism. Why is that so hard for you to accept? is it just because you don't suffer from it that's why? It's not really mature to insult a person that agrees with facts over your own personal beliefs. honey bär 4 months ago

No they don't. Don't talk about things that you know nothing about. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär Tell me how easy it for them to express themselves verbally and how they can be popular and get a non-autistic girlfriend. Tell me how easy it is for them to make friends and fit into society, if you don't think they suffer then this should be easy for you to answer. Otherwise it is suffering. honey bär 4 months ago

Not speaking verbally, being "popular" and having allistic datefriends does not constitute a value of life. Fitting into society isn't required to have a good life. What requires a good life is being happy. And it's hard for anybody to be happy when pieces of shit like you try to force them to do things you'd like them to do for some obscene reason. I mean, fucking really. "Being popular?" What are you, a high schooler? Who gives a shit about "popularity?" Shouldn't being happy and healthy be way more important than the opinions of teenagers with pretend food chains? halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär Fitting into society is not a requirement, however is an EXAMPLE of what i'm saying. IF a person with autism DID want to fit in then they would have a hard time trying hence suffering so they don't try. I've never tried to force anyone to do anything yet thats exactly what you accuse me of doing. You call me a piece of shit when you come here on some mothers video and make negative remarks calling her a shit parent and saying the autistic person in the video suffers from the mother taking photos/videos, you do realise the autistic person in this video is not even aware of being video taped and does not care where it is uploaded to? Clearly the person in the video is suffering. honey bär 4 months ago

Holy shit. Destroy allistic people. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär What is this allistic thing you keep mentioning? Grow up. honey bär 4 months ago

It's called Google. Also: an allistic person trying to talk over an autistic person telling her to "grow up" halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär You were told to grow up because you were being immature and disrespectful. If you act like a whiny kid then obviously someone will tell you to grow up. Justify your own actions before trying to use me telling you to "grow up" against me. honey bär 4 months ago

I don't need to justify jack shit to a non disabled person who is actively talking over a disabled person. Go away, shitbag, honey bär 4 months ago

19

Oh, also: I'm not going to be respectful to somebody who thinks you have to be "normal" to be treated with respect. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär so you use autism as an excuse for being immature? Why are you trying to use me telling you to grow up against me then? honey bär 4 months ago

TELLING ALLISTICS TO NOT OPPRESS ME ISN'T IMMATURE HOLY FUCK I VCAN'T STOP LASUGHING halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär Oh so now you're accusing me of oppressing you, exactly how am i doing that? honey bär 4 months ago

By talking over me on an issue you have no authority on. Also, saying that autistic people suffer because they don't meet your ridiculous standards. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär my examples of suffering are not my standards. if you feel as if i've been "talking over" you, then that is another example of how people can suffer from autism. Does social interaction make you feel hostile? honey bär 4 months ago

"me treating you as sub human for being autistic is how you're suffering* HOYL SHIT halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär Does social interaction make you feel hostile? Do things that differ from your personal beliefs make you feel hostile? You've been nothing but hostile in the comments on this video, even before i started commenting in response to you. honey bär 4 months ago

Gee, I wonder why. It's not like I'm still being told by a non autistic person that autistic people are "suffering" for not being like them. There's no reason for me to be annoyed. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär I will take your sarcasm as "yes, you feel hostile", you would not be so hostile otherwise.... And also i never stated if i am autistic or not, therefore it's not something you can use against me even though it means that much to you to the point where it makes you try to use it against me. You just assumed i don't have autism and attempted to use it against me ever since. WOW. honey bär 4 months ago

Because you never answered my question! If you're autistic, then I'll still say you're wrong, but at least you have room to talk at all. If you're not autistic, you shouldn't even be saying anything in the first place. It's not your place. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

20

+honey bär You even claimed to be disabled, did you mean disabled like physically? or as in retarded, like not being able to comprehend things mentally. It's ok i won't make fun of you. honey bär 4 months ago

I am autistic. Don't use slurs. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär How can a person claim to be disabled yet at the same time claim not to suffer from being disabled? That is exactly what you're doing. Makes no sense... honey bär 4 months ago

That sort of attitude is just depressing to me. You really think that people can't have a quality life without being "normal?" halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär If it is depressing to you then clearly you are suffering, therefore proving my point i made earlier which you denied and disagreed with. You've been both but insulting and hostile yet say my attitude is depressing to you. It is a clear contradiction, still makes no sense. Myself attempting to rationalize the things you say can't really be that depressing.... Unless you can't comprehend it of course, then yeah that would be depressing indeed. honey bär 4 months ago

Then stop treating me and other autistics as if we are subhuman. Problem solved. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär Exactly how am i treating you and people with autism as subhuman? Just because i disagree with your original comment by agreeing with facts instead you end up having a hissy fit and remain hostile.

Reply · honey bär 4 months ago

You keep saying that we're SUFFERING for being DIFFERENT. How is that not treating us as subhuman? You're literally saying that we shouldn't be alive if we don't act allistic. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär No one is telling you to act allistic, the SUFFERING part is because you don't really have a choice in the matter if you do not want to have autism. Some people are born with autism, some people with it may like it and some people with it may not like it. The ones that don't like it are the ones SUFFERING. You claimed no one with autism can suffer from autism, clearly that itself is untrue. honey bär 4 months ago

Wow. You're not even listening to me. Allistic logic. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär Again, i am not saying autistic people suffer for being different, what i'm saying is that SOME SUFFER because of not being able to do CERTAIN THINGS. Some people are comfortable

21 being autistic, others are not comfortable being autistic. The ones that are not comfortable being autistic are the ones who are suffering from being autistic.SIMPLE AS THAT. honey bär 4 months ago

Yeah, you are, actually. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär i've explained it as simple as possible yet you just refuse to acknowledge it. Either you are in denial, OR you can't comprehend it. Simple as that. honey bär 4 months ago

You can't explain away bullshit, friend. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär Obviously you are a troll, your attitude and small replies to my bigger responses prove this. Trolls do not break character, and they go round making negative comments in hopes of getting a response/rise out of other people which is exactly what you tried to do with your origenal comment, instead of being reasonable about disagreements you act immature and call me names instead. You've made your trolling a bit too obvious. honey bär 4 months ago

Of course I'm a troll. Who seriously says that autistic people deserve respect? Allistics are fucking disgusting, lol. And you're no different. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär For a start most of the people that makes videos about them do. I doubt the person who made this video is autistic. She deserves respect because she's a milf ;) honey bär 4 months ago

You're fucking grosser than I thought. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär Exactly, except i don't go around pretending to be a homosexual person suffering from autism which is what it says on your user profile. Although calling yourself honey is kind of sweet, impersonate a girl instead lol. honey bär 4 months ago

I'm not suffering. I'm existing. Deal with it! Also, why would I misgender myself? halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago (edited) the link in my previous above comment seems to be blacked out on my end, the link was watch?v=hSuh5298dow is the video honey bär 4 months ago

Aww, that's a sweet video. You're still ableist trash though.

22 halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär My point was the video contained another milf, did you see the blonde mother at the start? honey bär 4 months ago

Stop talking to me about "milfs." It's degrading to the women you are talking about, and I know you're just deflecting me because you evidently don't think that MOGAI autistics actually exist or something. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär You called one of them a shit parent which is much more degrading than calling her a milf. i believe some people do suffer from autism although i don't know what MOGAI stands for. honey bär 4 months ago

Yeah, calling somebody who puts videos of their autistic kid stimming in private for the world to see like they're some sort of circus attraction is a great parent. What was I thinking? Also it'd sure be easier to talk with you if you'd actually tell me whether or not you're autistic. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär The parent was only trying to spread awareness and is a noob to the internet just like most other "irl" people that use the internet for "irl" things. There are alot of irl people on youtube, vloggers and mental issue vids fall into this category of irl people. honey bär 4 months ago

Awareness of what? That autistic people exist? I'm pretty sure that ain't a problem anymore pal. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär No, awareness of how excessive the stimming can get and infact awareness of the stimming itself, honestly i've never seen or heard of the whole stimming side of it until just recently in the past 7 days or something. I've watched a few documentaries on autism and spoke to a few people about it but never once have i heard the stimming even being mentioned. Some stim not all assburgers stim, if a person stims then a person is suffering. honey bär 4 months ago

Stop saying "assburgers" what the hell is wrong with you stimming is NOT always a sign of pain. it can be, but that does not make autism a disease that needs to be eradicated like you keep suggesting. stimming is a self regulatory behavior. some autistics do it just for fun. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär Sorry my bad, meant aspergers but typed the wrong one. I don't say autism needs to be eradicated or agree with it. Autistics don't do stimming for fun, they have no control over it and sometimes do it to help mentally sooth themselves. Stimming is like an impulse, like how tourettes syndrome people sometimes say things accidentally. honey bär 4 months ago

Don't tell an autistic person what YOU think autism is like. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

23

+honey bär I was telling you what thr stimming is like, NOT the autism... honey bär 4 months ago

Stimming is a part of autism. You've been speaking out of turn for like, 3 days. Knock it off. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär i know it is part of autism, some autistic people stim, not all. honey bär 4 months ago

Exactly. We're on the same page. Except not really? You're still arguing that we suffer from autism and that we need to stop existing because we are different. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär i never said autistics need to stop existing, and i said SOME people suffer from not autism, NOT all people with autism. honey bär 4 months ago

You're still saying it. Holy shit! halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär Still saying what? honey bär 4 months ago

That autistic people suffer by existing. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär I never said that, you just keep saying i do. honey bär 4 months ago

Actually, you did, but feel free to keep acting like you're an authority on the subject. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär You've already admitted to being a troll so it does not matter what i say to you, you'll still find a way to twist and take what i say as meaning something else. To be honest i dont see how what you are doing is supposed to be considered as funny, if its not funny then the trolling is not successful. Anybody can read all of these replies but obtain no lulz from it. You've succeeded at gaining attention because of a negative comment you made on this video but thats all, nothing else really. honey bär 4 months ago

Oh, I did? I must've missed that one. Also, who says "lulz" anymore? halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär "lulz" is said more than "allistic". honey bär 4 months ago

24

Probably. Nobody gives a damn about disabled people's rights. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär it depends on which you are talking about, physically or mentally disabled? honey bär 4 months ago

Both, actually. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär are you both of these? honey bär 4 months ago

None of your business, smart ass. I've already told you I'm autistic like, 500 times? So quit asking me shit I've already told you. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago (edited)

+honey bär well you said nobody gives a damn about disabled people's rights. if that statement was true then disability benifit would not exist and neither would special olympics. honey bär 4 months ago

Holy shit. "Ableism doesn't exist! Special olympics." halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär i guess it is only fair to let disabled people have their own olympics, someone out there cares for their rights. It would not be fair to mix them in with normal regular olympics because the non disabled people would have an unfair advantage. honey bär 4 months ago lmao. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär Some people are disabled in both ways. honey bär 4 months ago

No shit. halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär You seem to have quietened down now. honey bär 4 months ago

"Quietened?" halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär Yes.... Got a problem with that?

25 halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago

+honey bär .... still no answer, i see you changed your profile again. i was right you were faking all of it including predtending to be austistic. you only posted a comment to get a response from people like me but you got more than what you asked for looool ignorant and inconsiderate like your origenal post. Hide replies halooLOo KiDz 4 months ago the video i assume was made for awareness purposes, or maybe the fact that its youtube. i highly doubt your claim that it was done for pity.

Jackie Yoshi 4 months ago

Really? If they wanted to raise awareness there are ways of doing so that don't involve child exploitation. halooLOo KiDz 3 months ago

+Jackie Yoshi yeah well words cannot describe everything, some things have to be withnessed. if people do not see it for themself then they'll never know. Thanks to videos like this we CAN know in the comfort of your own home instead of withnessing it in person.

Jackie Yoshi 3 months ago

Actually many things can be described. We no longer live in the age of freakshows. Human beings are capable of using their words to describe things, however those who aren't intelligent enough to read and understand descriptions try to validate exploiting helpless children as a way to teach them. Perhaps you're a "visual learner", that still doesn't justify a parent violating their child's privacy so they can get pats on the back, and babied about how hhhaaarrddd it is for them.

To all of the rude insensitive comments like I would put him or her up for adoption or I would send him to a institution...Get real!! So it's ok to let your child suffer at the hands of a stranger all their lives just because the mother/father is too coward and weak to stand up to their parental duties. These are loving breathing feeling individuals with gifts to contribute to this evil judgmental world. My son was fine as a baby and started really noticing signs at about age 2. Would a parent then give the child up at age 2? My son is the most beautiful person when he isn't having a tantrum. These aren't BAD kids..It would suck to be stuck inside yourself...in a body you have no or partial control of...Grow Up!! Free your mind of hate and judgment! Take time to learn more and help others...

Kids in general can be pretty defiant from time to time.

Mina Fox 2 weeks ago

+OverratedLunitic Autistic or not, there are a lot of defiant and screaming kids. There are some videos that went viral about an autistic kid having long-term meltdowns and he even had violent threats against his mom. The incident then went on Dr. Phil.

OverratedLunitic 2 weeks ago okay, I'm no sure we're on the same page. All kids whether on the spectrum or not defiant.

Mina Fox 1 week ago

+OverratedLunitic And as you can see, the population of kids with autism is so much bigger than in the past. I mean, some kids with autism can be hard to control.

OverratedLunitic 1 week ago

Autism is so grossly over diagnosed , and yes some kids with autism are hard to control, but my whole point is that kids with out autism are hard to control too. But there are different reasons for it. Like him having a tantrum and being defiant is completely different from a child with autism having a meltdown and being difficult to control.

I admire the mother on that channel because it seems that everything she's done for her daughter poppy is solely done with the intention of facilitating life for her daughter and NOT to make things easy for herself. even though, throughout the process as a result it has made things easy for her as well, which is well deserved in her case. good parents are always invaluable especially for girls with autism. they get a second chance at life. best wishes! cjozie 1 month ago (edited) maybe if u left her alone for a moment and tried to accommodate her as much as possible instead of calling out her name many times and getting frustrated over every little thing she does. stop trying to touch her so much that probably annoys and also trying to forcefully trying to remove from a place where she is comfortable to a place where she doesn't want to be. I would be annoyed too. I wish this precious little girl the best so her adult life could be lived to its fullest. autistic kids are genius especially little girls. stop trying to forcing her to be neuro-typical saying words like 'share' 'together'. they don't get that. i'm sure you couldn't be autistic even if some one forced you. be careful what u feed her and how u deal with her for her sake. best wishes :) murp91 1 month ago 33

My son was the same way. The tantrums started like 2-3 months before he turned 2. He will be 4 this month and he rarely has fits anymore. He's in a pre-k special class where they are working with him and his behavior. He is also receiving speech therapy there. With only a few months of attending school and having a cousin a year younger than him, who he sees everyday, he's talking a lot now. School has helped him a lot. He goes up to certain strangers, but he's mainly social with people he knows well. He used to be very repetitive too, and he still is, but not as much. I think his major problem is communication and being able to express himself. He sometimes flaps his hands and makes weird facial expressions, but it all comes with having "fragile x syndrom." His case is not severe, but it hurts seeing him having meltdowns. It's even harder when you are a single mom, like me. But being a parent of an austic child is one of the hardest jobs there is. It drains you physically and emotionally. At one point, I thought I was losing my mind. I couldn't focus on anything. I couldn't even reason, or understand what ppl would say to me, all because my mind only had one thing in it "constant screams like emily rose from the exorcism." It was everyday, so many times a day. Sometimes I would break down and cry... Anyway, how old is your daughter now? She is so pretty. Your son, too. awifeysworld

Hang in there!! It will get better if you continue everything you are already doing! My daughter is now 4 and she is sooo much better. I know the screams you are talking about and unfortunately people don't understand what it can be like, that's why i made this video to show just how loud and sad it can be. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel and it does get better!

I just wonder if you're on her a little too much. Hearing her name a lot might be a trigger. I wouldn't give up on letting her decompress until she's ready to do whatever task she has to do. Maybe, as she gets older, you can try that route again. I've seen it work with adolescents and teens. I truly hope some of these behaviors will lessen as she gets older. Hang in there hon.

She's a beautiful little girl, by the way. She's blessed to have a mom like you too. beanbeautiful 102 2 months ago

There are many good things that come with Autism. We get to keep our kids younger longer. We get to keep a hold on them longer also and protect them. She is the most real little person I have ever met because she just doesn't know how to be anything else but herself. I admire that about her. She is doing so much better and rarely throws fits anymore at all. We mad it through the hard times and now it is much easier!

Thank you for sharing one of the many faces of autism. My daughter is now 11 and was diagnosed at 3, her behavior was just like your little girl and sometimes still is. People see tv shows with children under the autism spectrum talking and mainstreamed in school and asume that is autism. The huge rage of austim is HUGE and every child is soooo different. I can actually tell you that i know what you go through because my daughter has her very good, good, ok, bad and very bad days. But just do your best and love your princess because I do believe that is she could she would try to make it easier to her and your family.

This baby is in pain. One of the few times I question whether there are any drugs to help her cope. I felt her anxiety straight down the pit of my stomach. You can post videos about her good days, but this drives the point home. AT least for me who has been skeptical at times. I apologize.

She seems to be most comfortable in her bedroom. Have you ever just let her stay in there until she is ready to come down on her own? Is there a reason she isn't dressed? I have heard some of the children don't like anything touching their skin. I can only imagine the struggle that would be.

Has her behavior in any way affected the baby?

Its awfully odd that she doesn't do it around her dad "because he doesn't tolerate it" means she must have some control. What does he do when she starts acting up?

37 awifeysworld

We have tried having her come down on her own and she wont, she will just stay up there crying. It was a really hot day and we didn't have air conditioning at the time. No, her brother is totally fine. She doesn't see him often, she behaves betters with people she doesn't see day in and day out. This is an old video. She is doing much much better!

+RealityJuMad I also have a child diagnosed with autism. Have you heard of PECS? If you have not, it is a picture exchange system and it has helped tremendously with transitioning between one activity to another, and your daughter is adorable!

D Lindsey 5 months ago

I read somewhere that autistic children have the same facial characteristics:

Have a broader face, including wider eyes Have a shorter middle region of the face, including the cheeks and nose Have a wider mouth and philtrum - the area between the nose and lips

The team analysed 64 boys with autism and 41 typically developing boys aged eight to 12-years-old, using a camera system that captures a 3-D image of each child’s head. They then mapped 17 points on the face, such as the corner of the eye and the divot in the upper lip beneath the nose. When they calculated the overall geometry of the face using these points, and compared children with autism and those without, they found statistically significant differences in face shape.

There were further distinct facial traits in children who had more severe behavior and language problems compared to those with milder symptoms

If this is actually so then they do have a physical symptom for diagnosis.

D Lindsey 5 months ago

Have you ever heard of Paida and Lajin?

I watch this and I truly wonder where God keeps this mold of these beautiful parents who steward these children into adulthood. It takes a saint. You are a better person than I.

Some doctors and professionals feel it is a combination of many things. Breastfeeding all but stopped when the first real signs of Autism started. There has since been a rebirth, but also, babies were delivered at home and the mother had stronger bonding until hospitals took over. here are a few ideas if you are pregnant and worrying about this. 1. no drugs during pregnancy or labor - water-birth is the best, but not necessary for this intended outcome. 2. do not let them break your water. That is a perfect environment for your baby and will make him/her have a less stressful birth. El Caul (with the sac still intact when born) is said to also be very good luck and who couldn't use that?

38

3. After baby is born, let your baby stay 'attached' and under the water for almost a minute while he/she stares up at you and acclimates. 4. do not allow intervention. Statistics and prophylaxis can wait. Have the baby dried off of everything but their hands. The amniotic fluid on his/her hands is important and I will tell you why later. No suctioning either, those fluids are going to be the most important thing between you and your baby for the next hour. 5. Have mom lie back in a reclining position and have the baby lie face down skin to skin with mother with his shoulders flat against the mother's stomach, between her breasts but below the nipple level. Cover the baby and mom if cold, put a on the infant.

The next moments are the most important and fascinating you will ever experience and it will change you views on the helplessness of the infant. Many professionals have said that they believe if the "Magic Hour" is respected and played out the chances of your child having issues such as ASD, SIDS, ADD, infections and many other issues is reduced significantly.

It is said it is a primal time that the baby needs to play out with absolutely each step being critical starting with the first few I have already mentioned.

BREAST CRAWL (many videos here on it)

6. The mother should sooth the child rubbing its head and back, but do not assist the baby on this next journey, he/she must do it for itself.

The baby will be able to do something that it will never be able to do again until it is several months old... It will crawl!

7. the baby will cry at first, then settle down and rest from the birth trauma. 8. after a few minutes he/she will start digging their little feet into the mother pelvis area causing the uterus to contract, the placenta to deliver and the breast to start making milk. 9. the baby's hands will grasp until it finds the nipple and he/she will start to manipulate it to get it to protrude.

VERY IMPORTANT EVEN IF YOU DO NOT INITIATE BREAST-CRAWL. Do not clean the nipple before this. The nipple and milk have the same smell as amniotic fluid and the baby recognizes it. This gives the baby a better latching on.

10. he/she will pull with its hands and push with its feet until it gets to the area close to the areola. The baby can actually see it!

The amniotic fluid on the hands has now rubbed on the nipples and the baby's keen sense of smell will tell him/her that they are close to the food source. The baby will start smacking his/her lips and salivating. He may rest again for a few minutes staring at the nipple. (There is a precious video on here of a breast-crawl where the baby has the nipple right next to her face and she stares at it wide eyed, almost cross eyed for 5 minutes before she gets her strength and goes for it):

HEALTH PHONE INITIATION OF BREASTFEEDING WITH BREAST-CRAWL Cut and paste into YouTube search

11. from anywhere from 10 to 50 minutes he/she will eventually find the breast, bob its head up and latch.

39

A time of pure joy for both mom and baby.

And do not be tempted to assist.

Those instincts are gone after the first hour or so. So do not miss this small window of opportunity. If you have a C-Section, you should still be able to do the breast-crawl, but just in case, daddy or another very close family member can do the skin-to-skin contact until you are ready which some believe can allow the breast crawl to work as soon as the mom is ready (but don't wait too long).

These are the most important moments of your child's life. No one should interfere with the mother and baby for at least an hour, or more - until the first feed has been successful.

You may have to be a brute about this because there are still a lot of overzealous oldschoolers who think this is hogwash and don't want their precious schedules to change which is: deliver baby wash baby weigh baby give eye-drops and V-k baby give baby to mom

Think about it. You know what to do, your baby knows what to do. This is instinctual. They have tested this theory and have shown, babies whose moms are drugged with Demerol or an epidural have a hard time doing this and sometimes just cannot. They have also tried the breast-crawl after they have done all the procedures I just mentioned they are used to and again, the baby will not do it. The window is gone. And that wonderful important development phase is gone with it. But not all is lost when it comes to pain relief. In the UK they use gas and that does not affect the baby and the mother controls the gas intake.

This is the way your child puts everything in its proper order and works out the complex mechanics of living. It is the first hard-wiring of the brain outside the womb. By doing this themselves, they have already made great strides toward a successful life of future independence, learning their own strength and inner power.

You will be hard pressed to find a doctor, professor or theorist that will argue this point. If you go and look at the videos, you may be surprised to find more male doctors promoting this which is refreshing.

It is sad I didn't know about this with my first two children.I had the breast-crawl with my last child and it was so crazy amazing! I just couldn't believe such a wonderful thing could happen so successfully. And that child is my genius child.

I hope this helps someone. marco S 5 months ago

Siblings of an autistic child do suffer something similar to post traumatic stress syndrome. They have more anxiety and are traumatized by the violent meltdowns. Parents of autistic children are under extreme pressure, now imagine growing up in that environment. I'm not blaming anyone, simply stating that siblings do suffer more than you realize.

Let's not judge when you don't know Autism or live it, it's hard and there are many critics with their hurtful and judgmental comments. Maybe she was trying to go down the stairs a way she used to in her routine because if you mess with a routine they have set, the child can meltdown and it's more difficult with a non verbal because you cannot communicate to help with whatever they are upset about. It's a hard battle and I know because I have a son with nonverbal autism and it's not easy at all.

Margareta Karanicola

8 months ago oh she is very cutie i was just wondering about why she was sacred but now i know fredthesheep kirby 8 months ago (edited) the problem seems simple to me, all I hear is you saying, "let's go have a snack", "let's go downstairs", "let's go upstairs", "let's have some dinner". People with Autism HAVE to stick to certain routines and don't like it when things change, so when you were telling her that you were going to do all these things, while she was trying to still do something else it was getting her stressed because things were changing too quickly. Maybe try telling her what's going to happen a few minutes before it happens, like tell her, "okay we're going to go for a snack in a minute", make sure she's listing to you, then a minute or two later say,"Okay let's go for a snack now", and wait for her be ready to come with you. Autistic people need to be eased into a situation where something changes so that it doesn't come as

Birendra mishra 9 months ago

I understand your situation, but you are not alone , I also have a 2.5 year old child with autism name kris. I am trying homeopathic treatment with training sessions. I am not a professional but one thing i want to share with you that don't force your kid to do anything such if she does not want to come downstairs so leave it. and play some cartoon or some music or some activity which she likes very much at downstairs. and wait, she automatically comes down. second, don't focus on speech right now ,focus on motor-gross skills and increase her understanding and feeling about things, such as "Look he is you brother, he is so sweet" and like "how pretty are you looking" or "look its your favorite toy". don't bother about speech it will come with time. and for you: you are great mom when she will be ok .. she will be like you. and be patient.

Lord Loki Cleveland 9 months ago what I am seeing is that you not trying, just "laughing at her," in your own way. mommy didn't get her cup of coffee, that's all. I don't have much patience, I'm a father of an Autitsic 4 year old boy, had the same behaviors as Jasmine, but from learning how to understand him better and finding out what he likes, that you can use their likes to communicate with them better, we use Star Wars. We broke down barriers by using and softly talking to him, cause it takes their mind away from the reason why they are overstimulated, which is called "Redirecting." cec060797 10 months ago

How old is she? Is she able to communicate? Does she use sign language or the PECS system for communication? Is she able to be potty trained and wear pull-ups or will she need to be in for the rest of her life? Does she drink from a baby bottle or sippy cup? Hope she is doing well. awifeysworld

It is so obvious that this is a child to whom is been talked to,from his early age .. Congratulation ... from Croatia.

Christian Walls 4 months ago

I'm not sure I see autism...the only thing I noticed was his constant touch of his father's hand/arm. Unfortunately, autism over-diagnose is becoming more and more prevalent and many times becomes

49 the "default" disability. I work with kids with disabilities, mostly autism, and I would say he seems more ADD than anything; a lot of the symptoms of autism overlap with ADD and ADHD. There is also a new diagnosis "Social Language Disorder" which could actually fit the way he interacts...again, it seems you're very involved with your boy and that is clearly seen in the video, regardless of his Dx.

You can't tell from a 6 minute video. I have a son with high functioning autism and I get so tired of hearing people tell me they don't think he's autistic. His brain works in a different way, we have lots of challenges, it's not always obvious in a brief encounter. Autism is not over diagnosed, it is carefully diagnosed. My son has been evaluated in depth by psychologists four times, each time with the same result. Perhaps it was under diagnosed in years gone by.

:P You don't know him at all. People don't know that I'm autistic from only a couple of minutes of talking to me. I have high-functioning autism, but I still have sensory overloads and meltdowns, I still can't be around noise or in cluttered areas without losing my mind because of the overstimulation. Don't talk about things you don't know.

I do love your father and son relationship, it's awesome. As someone who has Aspergers... my pain level to another persons pain level is quiet different. It's the hypersensitivity to everything or anything. "The Emerald Mind card" is an awesome name.

This may be different for your son, but when I was 9 I was doing 10th grade maths and English without anyone knowing, and no one knew how smart I really was for a long time. So my parents always treated me like a normally person my age but for me that meant really dumb, which I hated. I don't want to pressure because you know more about your son than I do, but just a fun piece of trivia. PS. In case you were wondering, I'm 13 and I'm a savant with aspergers. jewe99 6 months ago

He is not diagnosed with Asperger's, however he suffered a neuro-immune illness after the MMR at the age of 3.5 Thanks for sharing an appropriate way to debrief after something like that, very helpful to see that. Thanks for getting your son's permission to share. Please contact us directly if you have any resources that may be helpful. jann4sundown 8 months ago

Gr8 video! I loved seeing the way you both interact with each other! Our son has autism too but he's somewhere in the middle of the spectrum (PDD) so he's not able to communicate or hold a conversation as wonderfully as your son can :) It's really nice to dream that maybe someday our son too can articulate himself as well as your son can :) God Bless You Both & Your Family!

Kristin Brady 8 months ago

The intro is AWESOME! My son is high functioning as well and he LOVES Mindcraft too. I see a lot of the same characteristics in them. I admire you, a lot of people do not understand their HF children, and you seem to understand him 100%. You are a GREAT father, Jayden, you are so lucky!!

Johnance Strueh 8 months ago

So many similarities to our days. My son too has Asperger's. Think the relationship and how the two of you interact is awesome.

MartenFerret 8 months ago

You speak intelligently to your son. I applaud you for that. I am autistic, too, but the adults in my life were of the mind to jingle keys in front of me to induce a smile, rather than attempt to stimulate me with appropriate conversation. krazykittymatt

I know what you mean. I always hated that. I always felt talked down to. I started reading at 19 and I found that I love words and when people teach me new ones to use it was very enjoyable to engage in a conversation. I still don't like making eye contact, but mundane conversation with that people for some reason insist upon is more tolerable.

My son Dorian has high functioning autism...I can totally relate to this video. Your son is just adorable. Dorian loves Minecraft too. I'm going to share this on Dorian's FB page "Travelling Tikko" because it truly shows how sweet these kids are, despite their challenges. I also know that when we take the time to "explain" and use "logic" with our children, they are more likely to accept advice on how to control their emotions. I loved your video!

This "duo" is awesome... They can teach others so much about what a "typical" day may be like in their world. I understand that no two kids with Aspergers are the same, but this kid sure does remind me of my 8 year-old son (who also has Aspergers... His favorite Minecraft character is Enderman too. Lol). Hey Tom. Great videos. I have HFA too so it's interesting for me to watch these videos. I want to point out that some children with HFA have hypersensitivities and can be more prone to feeling uncomfortable when touched or hit suddenly. This could be a reason why your son seemed to 'overreact' when his brother hit him. :)

Jake B

54

That would also explain why he reacted so strongly to the smell at the fish market in your other video. For those of us with HFA, our sensory world is a little out of whack.

Kate Dides 1 year ago in reply to ogechi chikezie-Karter

Children on the higher end of ASD usually are not "mutes." Or have significant speech delays. Meaning, development is normal but lacking. I am a HFA and I developed speech early, but was not interested in talking more than a few words or repeating what I heard because sifting through the mind and constructing sentences was a challenge. Still is. /= So, we talk but it's tiresome.

Matthew Mccraine

He drinks out of a sippy cup and he will go pee in the potty but he wont tell us when he has to go. So yes he still is in diapers and not potty trained

Frelina Proso 7 months ago

He is in nappies probably because he has sensory issues. You might know when you need to go or even why you need to go in the toilet but this is very hard to teach a severely autistic child. He may not even have the sensation you have. So keep an open mind. Trust me parents of autistic children typically rack their brains about this stuff. If it has occurred to you it has definitely occurred to them. joshua bell 8 months ago

Why is he in nappies

Because he is disabled

Did someone just seriously ask why he is wearing a ? Did you not see in the title where his parent wrote SEVERE AUTISM. I get so sick of the ignorance in this world. My guess is that because he has difficulty communicating that he needs to use the bathroom, and thus is more likely to wet himself or mess himself and not do anything about it.

Really?

Keller Andrade 1 year ago in reply to Jason Carpp

CARPP Hello Jason, I'll disagree with what u saying this, because I think people are born with this type of behavior they have some kind of effect against the will of their their brain, eg like only one thing, only jokes what is yours, do not like to loan or accept a toy from another child ... etc..

I did this when I was 7. I remember naming my horse Bucky & he looked like a shrunken old version of Spirit from the movie of the same name that came out that year. I felt strange there though sinceI was always on of the more higher functioning kids there. There would be 10 year olds there that looked like 3 years old & were confined to wheel chairs. (I geuss they had Cornelia De Langs Syndrome, I'm just an Aspie)

Are their brief moments, like 30 minutes out of a 24 hour span maybe 3 or 4 times a week where he shows no symptoms at all? My son is 7 and he acts almost identical to your boy But there are some days maybe a few times a week that he acts like , I don't wanna use the word normal , but shows none of the same characteristics as he 80% of the time does.So much to say that I don't know where to begin....He is great with his memory on certain subjects, and technical things he picks up quick, he is no more hyper active than any 7 year old, but some thing is off but then again not, almost as if it is an act that he has manipulated me into but at the same time, it is not even possible because he is a genuine little guy, and I am hip to mind games having 3 daughters.lol So I am doing my own research before I consult hid pediatrician...I don't want to punish him or reprimand him for things that are out of his control but at the same time do not want think he is just doing what he wants when he feels in the mood to.....Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

I'm not sure if all children with Autism and ADHD act this way. as a matter of fact I have Asperger's and ADD, very similar to him. Now, being a sophomore in high school, I might have a bias; I don't really remember every moment I had when I was nine, but, if memory serves, when I was nine, I was more smart than this kid (not meaning to brag here!). I believe it may be the notable side effect other than mild Autism that Asperger's delivers, which, in lament's terms, is basically increased intellect. I may also have to add the fact that I believe, according to my observations from two other people I know who have both Autism/ Aspergers and ADD/ ADHD, that I am showing less obvious signs of both of my conditions, but that just may be the result of six or seven years of therapy and one of them has ADHD so bad that he's the Tasmanian Devil's son. I don't know. jack cleeveley 5 months ago

Just be as good mom as you can. When the rest of the world don't care you have to figure it out ypurself. You have to understand how he thinks and how he works. And you are probably the one closest to him, so it shouldn't be a problem. I don't mean it's easy, cause I know it's not. But that's the only way to do it. Skype me up if you want to. I message my skype name to you.

Oh and I was diagnosed with ADD as a child and still have it but they changed it over the years and I'm 27 now. But they say it's now classified as ADHD. Or last I heard. It really sucks.. Because I loose friends and jobs too because I can't function the greatest and I forget very often. But one thing I could do very well and best in my class well spelling. And sometimes I can understand or get things ( and by things I mean questions from intelligent/ difficult to easy questions asked in school or whatever) that other "normal/average" people don't or can't. Sometimes I often feel that that sometimes I fall on the spectrum too but I was never diagnosed with autism. But I also feel myself that I have both add/ADHD and autistic traits. Anyways I'm getting carried away. But your son seems like such a sweetheart and seems very smart too! I hope my son will soon have some of the traits your son has if not I will always love and treat him like an average little man. As I always do anyways. Thanks for posting this! P.s. Tell your son not to worry about what others think of his hair or what he looks like or how he looks. That's the way you are meant to be. He's beautiful no matter how he looks ;)

His hair is naturally curly...not sure what you mean by "normal hair"... He has had nothing but complements his whole life on how gorgeous his hair is, as I am sure all curly haired boys do. And he "fits in" just fine with other children. I think raising a child to value people for the qualities a person has and what they contribute to society is far more respectable than how one is dressed or styles their hair. And quite honestly if another child doesn't want to "hang or chill" with him because they are so shallow to value ones appearance, that child isn't worth having the opportunity to be friends with him. And FYI... He in Lacoste, Boss, Tommy, Nike, Addidas, Eddie Bauer, Merrell, Puma, Polo, Buffalo...just to name a few...in fact from what I have seen, he appears to be dressed above and beyond the so called "normal" kids. Sorry my son has a head full of beautiful curls instead of plain jane straight...boring hair or same old crew cuts. But I am sure as what is a usual trend to ones put downs, it is out of jealousy. I swear to God, every day, every where we go he receives at least one comment on how cute his curls are.

What? That is just so wrong. It's not bad to be different. This world needs more people that go their own way and not following the stream. The thing with Adhd (Attention deficit and hyperactivity disorders) is that you already have enough of demands, which creates a big frustration. And even tough it's really hard enough are you going to "fit in" and change yourself for the society(?).. Does that seem right to you? Just face the fact that everybody is not the same. And try to see the beauty in it instead of something "bad". What is this life if you're going to change yourself for the society (and at the same time not be true to yourself)? People with Asperger's seem to make excellent friends. I learn so much from them and they enrich my life tremendously. I was taken by surprise by the strong sense of humor most seem to have. I can honestly say, my life is far richer with these friends in my life. I am indeed, most lucky to know these fine friends. imdaprince2 1 year ago in reply to TheOneAndOnlySpanker

Coming from someone who is very high functioning(in my very own conceited opinion), the very best way to treat autism is to dig deep into the perception of your brother and re-assure him that the world around him is not out to get him. There is this theory I have, that autistic children become emotionally traumatized by "evil"-looking facial expressions at birth or during childhood, hence the expression, "It's not that he can't see, he just doesn't want to look". Have a nice day. Good luck. imdaprince2 1 year ago in reply to bloodandwinearered

But when she's having a tantrum its really hard. I've been telling her therapist that she may have slight autism and ADHD but everyone is saying its a bahavioral thing. As a mom I've researched a lot on what my daughters symptoms are and what other parents go thru, and I've definately got that instinct that I'm right

Malachi's Mom 1 year ago in reply to april stephens

He has no food allergies, but I do notice he can't handle white flour, chocolate, and he is on a very low sugar diet. For him, he becomes very hyperactive and unable to sit, so the diet is a key component in aiding his daily routine. As for sensitivities, tags on his clothes, I have to cut them off he can't handle it.

Too much noise, especially when out in public. Having his iPod with earphones really helps to block this out for him.

Malachi's Mom 1 year ago in reply to april stephens

We have tried every kind if medication for A.D.H.D. Symptoms, like Dexedrine, Ritalin but stimulants did not work for him at all, he developed strong ticks, muscle spasms, from them to the point I had to bring him into the hospital one night. He is now on strattera, which is a non-stimulant. He also takes clonidine and risperidone. These help to calm him, mainly for school so he is able to settle and work independently. Medication was a hard choice, the school really pushed for it. april stephens 1 year ago in reply to Malachi's Mom

If you dont mind me asking, what does he take? Does he have food allergies and sensativies? I ask because I have a nine year old little girl that also has autism.

Katy Perry is a wonderful soul. Our children with autism sense it, of this I'm certain. Ms. Perry is an advocate for the autism community. My Katie, my middle child of 3 'n my oldest daughter who's autistic with a seizure disorder, absolutely adores Perry's music. She's 19 and was mesmerized during the Super Bowl half-time show. She sang every word of every song with the broadest smile. I'm so happy you've discovered a "like" of your sweet Jack <3 lolahayden 3 weeks ago

What a beautiful vid! Thanks for sharing. Your son reminds me a lot of my own autistic son, who also rarely speaks and likes music a lot. I remember him singing Pokerface (Lady Gaga) out of the blue. :) Even their movements are similar! We are so proud of Nyo and, off course, love him very much. There's a lot to learn from our autistic children, like taking nothing for granted, being in the moment and enjoying the simplest things in life. I wish you all the best. Carla, my 6yr old son, Jack no less, had a lot of the same issues early in life. We got him in multiple therapies very early on and now he's pretty high functioning. I'm a 17 year Air Force Sergeant and just had to explain to my co-workers why I was balling my eyes out at me desk. Your story and video are priceless. My Jackie sings Luke Perry at the of his lungs in the car and I get such a kick out of it but now it will mean all that more. God bless you and your family and keep on lov'n that little man to death !! Tony

That is great! My son would not speak until he was 5 and starting singing NO DOUBT songs. That was the first time we really could hear his voice and know that he was capable of speaking words. We gave him a microphone to sing into so we could hear it clearly. He is now 11 and still loves No Doubt. What helped was playing DVD's in the car. We also played Jenny McCarthy's DVD's and he learned new phrases. We also had the words prior to 18 mo. then it all went away! Best wishes, it will get a bit better as time goes on.

My autistic daughter loves Katy Perry also, we just bought her an Innotab3s and put this song on it for her. She has also had breakthrough in communication in the past year and is using some sign language and vocalizing more. Katy's music videos are colorful and upbeat and I think this is what my daughter responds to. Good for you Jack! Keep singing! And Thank you Katy!!! rapture9392 1 year ago

This is awesome. Our oldest son is very similar Jack (age, diagnosis, the way his voice sounds). He likes Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus and will hum along to the songs (nothing spontaneous yet). Music therapy may open some doors for these kids. deb Bee 1 year ago

I felt the same way when my autistic daughter first spoke of her own. she is a successful 7th grader now. she has her days but most of them are getting to be good. music plays important role in her life. Jack's mommy - please keep playing all the classical music softly in background when he is sleeping when he is awake every single moment I did it for my girl from the time she was 5 months and i noticed some thing off with her when she suddenly forgot how to roll over. it has played a important part in her being so successful. be patient and stick with it even when it seems so grim. it works it really does

This one child who was 7 years old at the time for months we couldn't figure out what he was saying. We will go buy McDonalds everyday on the way to school...as we will pass by we will say McDonald's and chicken nuggets. He said out of nowhere and it sounded so clear! Carla this is AWESOME!! It's hard to raise a child with Autism. It's even harder when that child is non- verbal. I remember being told my daughter Maria would be non-verbal, it's heart breaking. Hi Ericha Flateau! Actually, I requested an Assistive Technology Device Evaluation through our AWESOME school district (Frisco ISD in Texas) at Jack's last ARD and he just had that Eval on Monday. I had the same thought as you and I hoped a device might help him and us expand his means of communication and expression. You're right on with my train of thought!

Ericha Flateau 1 year ago

+Carla Robbins That's great news! Have you tried going through your insurance carrier? The only reason I ask is because if the school get's the device, it will belong to the school and not Jack. My son's insurance covered his ENTIRE device, no cost to our family what-so-ever, and the device belongs to him! I'm happy to share whatever knowledge I can, but even more thrilled that great things are coming Jack's way :)

We have however tried to make sure that she is secure wherever she may be .

This video brought me to tears. I have a son that is not diagnosed. We are on a 12 month waiting list to even have him evaluated by the next folks in line to check him out. He will be 4 in Dec. He is speaking but mostly parroting, sometimes it is difficult to connect with him and he does not like being held much. I know as a mother this must have been one of the highlights of your life. I am so very happy you got to have that moment and I hope so much that you have many more! What a sweet and beautiful child you have!

My son isn't diagnosed either but i know that he is not a typical little guy. He is 3 and only says a few words and only really says " hi there" on his own. With my oldest nephew it was dinosaurs. He couldn't/wouldn't say mommy, but he'd tell you the proper species name of any dinosaur you showed him. Love my nephew and I wouldn't change him for anything.

99 thumb down from me, I do not understand how some people do not like katy,if you do not like her music, what about her personality her inspiration to children, and here are so many beautiful things by katy , only because these things should be all Katy Perry fans.

Manda Rose 1 year ago

+STRLE82, everyone is entitled to their own personal opinions, mine is that I'm not a fan of her's. That doesn't mean she isn't a talented artist, that her music doesn't reach people and inspire them. This little boy is a prime example of just that. This song helped him and his parents connect in a way they hadn't before. To me that's amazing, but it's not enough to make me change my personal feelings about her music. It's just not my thing. sass82 1 year ago

+Manda Rose it seems that you did not understand me

Manda Rose 1 year ago

No +STRLE82, I understood you perfectly. I'm just not a fan of her music. What it did for this little boy and his family, now that I'm a big fan of. I think you misunderstood the meaning of this post. Did you even watch the video or read any of the info attached to it? sass82 1 year ago check this out. Olivia Wise- roar

This brought a smile to my face, a tear to my eye and hope to my heart. I admire that you kept your cool in the moment when you probably wanted to shout from your roof. ;-) My 10 year old grandson is non-verbal autistic. If Jack likes 'sharing' with other kids, he can watch my grandson, Preston http://youtu.be/uz95nQlKD7I lyndizzie 1 year ago

Tears! Music is amazing! And so are our autistic kids. Not sure if you've seen the Sonrise Latrell channel, but it might be almost as inspiring to you as Jack's incredible singing. You can find our son on YouTube also (PDD NOS, non-verbal to age four... except for singing.) His channel is ninjabassman Love and prayers to your family and your beautiful son. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for sharing. Your son is doing an amazing job. As a fellow mom to a nonverbal autistic boy I can imagine how this felt. Hope he starts to bring out his abilities more and more to share with you all. paolo ritchiottigori 1 year ago thats awesome you sound great Jack !!

I have a 13 yo grandson with non-verbal moderate autism. This shows that we, as loved ones of autistic children, must never give up on them.

Hope this doesn't sound mean I just want to know. This boy isn't able to speak at all? "nonverbal" - what does that exactly mean? Does this equal "mute?" This is a blessing more then a hardship I sense for this family.

Katy Perry should really make time to visit this little boy. I believe it would be such an awesome gift for a boy who could use an awesome gift. I love to see breakthroughs like this. It motivates me to be a better, more thankful dad.

Reminds me of my little sister (also autistic). She did this when she was five, only it was to The Twelve Days of Christmas. And Jack did such a great job with Roar!
