Around the Region to Old Bar with Port Bus Friday 1st April 2021 Old Bar is a coastal town in New South Wales, Australia in Mid-Coast Council. It lies around 16 kilometres east of Taree on the Mid North Coast, and around 315 kilometres north of Sydney. Old Bar is on the southern side of the mouth of the Manning River. Moorland Cottage The cafe has a wonderful garden setting with a beautiful indoor option too. This is a great place to stop for a break off the highway. They are renowned for the "Best Scones on the Coast" as the history is that of a bakehouse and later a Devonshire tea house, but they now have a modern, well priced menu, with real espresso coffee. Gluten free offerings are available. Our morning tea consist of urn tea & coffee and 1 x scone. Manning Point Manning Point is a small village located at the mouth of the Manning River in New South Wales, Australia. Lying on Mitchells Island, it lies opposite the town of Harrington. It is 26 kilometres east of Taree on the Mid North Coast. At the 2006 census, Manning Point had a population of 228. Club Old Bar Club Old Bar is proud to be “The Hub of the Community” by supporting all local sporting and community groups. They strive to provide an exceptionally satisfying, comfortable and safe place to meet. Here Taree Craft Centre Located in a lovely historical building, Taree Craft Cottage displays and sells a diverse range of quality items handcrafted by their talented members. This is the ideal place to shop for that perfect gift for any occasion. There are also two large classrooms where regular craft classes are held as well as the Cottage Cafe serving home baked cheesecake, biscuits and quiches and good espresso coffee - eat in or take away. Itinerary: Pickups commence around 9 am having us arrive for morning tea at Moorland Cottage. Off for a tour of Manning Point before lunch @Club Old Bar. Taking in a browse through the Taree Craft Cottage prior to heading home. THE LOWER MID NORTH COAST The Lower Manning Valley surrounding Taree and the Wallis Lake area around Forster / Tuncurry are each a paradise for birdwatchers. Numerous National Parks, State Forests and Nature Reserves contain a variety of natural vegetation types including rainforest, woodland, coastal heath and tidal estuaries hosting many species of birds. The Lower Mid North Coast is fringed by endless kilometres of white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and rugged cliffs providing many opportunities to view seabirds as well as dolphins and whales. Visitors will enjoy easy access to most areas by conventional vehicles, with 4 wheel drive(s) tracks available for the more adventurous. Many species of waterbirds, bushbirds and raptors, including nests, can be viewed along the pristine waterways of The Manning River or Wallis Lake. Regular cruises are available and small self-skippered boats can be hired. Accommodation is available to cater for all needs. The list includes the land and freshwater birds reliably recorded in the Manning Valley and Great Lakes are as well as the common seabirds to be seen from the coast. Some have been seen only once or a few times in recent years, or are known now only from a small area while others can be seen any day in appropriate habitat. Any unusual sightings or suggestions regarding this brochure may be forwarded to the address below and would be greatly appreciated.
