Uganda Police Force Press Release Traffic Flow Guidelines for the Swearing in Ceremony of the President Elect – H.E UGANDA POLICE FORCE PRESS RELEASE TRAFFIC FLOW GUIDELINES FOR THE SWEARING IN CEREMONY OF THE PRESIDENT ELECT – H.E. Y.K. MUSEVENI AT KOLOLO CEREMONIAL GROUNDS ON 12TH MAY 2016 The Swearing - in Ceremony of the President Elect, His Excellency Y.K. Museveni will be held on the 12th May 2016 at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. Many Heads of State, Ambassadors, Local and Foreign dignitaries are expected to attend the ceremony. This function will attract heavy traffic along Entebbe Kampala-highway, the City centre and Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. The following Traffic guidelines should be adhered to by all motorists and other road users: • Members of Parliament who will use buses/Coasters will access the venue via John Babiha to Elgon Terrace and their vehicles will park at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds Heroes Corner. ENTEBBE HIGHWAY ◙ There will be traffic disruptions along Entebbe-Kampala highway from 10th to 13th May 2016. Traffic will be diverted to use alternative roads. will access the venue via John Babiha to Lower Kololo Terrace and they will be dropped off at Lower Kololo ◙ Motorists who use this highway regularly are advised to use the following alternative routes to avoid traffic Terrace/ Coral Crescent Junction and will access the venue as will be guided by Security and Protocol. Their disruptions during the days mentioned above; drivers will proceed to park at Hotel Africana, UMI, and Seven Trees Wampewo as follows:- ◙ Motorists heading to Entebbe from Kampala are advised to proceed to Busega Roundabout and join the new Entebbe Express highway up to Kitara junction. ◙ Parking at UMI will be accessed via Coral Crescent – Golf Course Road – and will cross to Kings African Rifle. ◙ Motorists heading to Kampala from Entebbe will be diverted at Kitara junction and will use the new Express highway up to Busega Roundabout. They can proceed to Kampala via the Northern Bypass or Nateete road. ◙ Parking at Hotel Africana will be accessed via Coral Cresent – Golf Course Road- and Wampewo Avenue. Other motorists will be diverted at Kajjansi to join the Express highway ◙ Parking at Seven Trees Wampewo will be accessed via Coral Cresent- Golf Course Road and Dundas Road. ◙ Other alternative roads for motorists using Entebbe-Kampala Highway include: • Kisubi/Ssisa/Nateete • Guests with vehicles displaying BLUE STICKERS will access the venue via Archer Road. Unfortunately, dry season can also bring a lack of food to many households in areas like Karamoja who rely on the rains for their crops. We continue to have the opportunity to fly teams to evaluate the needs and help to provide necessary food supplies. In one of the villages of Karamoja called Kaabong, we have been flying for the Baptist mission. After many years of ministry the missionaries were beginning to become quite Taking off from Kaabong Airstrip discouraged at the lack of fruit. However, this past summer they began seeing many people turn to Christ. Ministry and church are very different from a normal town setting as many of the “villages” are families that live in mud or thatch huts which are surrounded by thorns. Our idea of traditional church buildings simply don’t work, and the Baptist IMB (International Mission Board) teams have learned to do church in a communal family setting. The gatherings of elders often lend themselves to discipleship times. However, these teams are very isolated from towns where they can get supplies and rely on MAF for access to the outside world. IMB teams and younger missionaries often come here for training in remote living.     Press Release The Kampala Aeroclub and Flight Training Centre goes carbon neutral The Kampala Aeroclub and Flight Training Centre (KAFTC) is now the first aviation company in Africa to go carbon neutral. The Kajjansi airfield based aviation company gained full carbon neutral status as part of its commitment to reduce and offset the greenhouse gas emissions that it emits into the atmosphere from its aviation operations. This covers all the energy use of the company – from its aircraft, vehicles and other ground operations. With the effects of climate change now being experienced both locally and globally, more and more individuals and organisation worldwide are taking responsibility for greenhouse gas emissions from their day-to-day operations. Rising levels of these greenhouse gases are largely responsible for warming of the planet, contributing to climate change. Increasing frequency of drought episodes, intensive rainfall, floods, landslides and change in planting seasons are among other obvious signs of climate change in Uganda. By taking this important step, KAFTC sets itself apart from other companies in the aviation sector. Further KAFTC joins a growing list of organisation across East Africa who have gained carbon neutral status through the Uganda Carbon Bureau’s Going Neutral service. These include: Classic Africa Safaris - the first company in Uganda to become carbon neutral. Nkuringo Gorilla Camp - leading the way in the tourism sector. The International a Lira-based supplier of high quality, locally made Lifeline Fund - improved cook stoves. The Sawlog Production Africa’s most successful promoter of tree growing, Grant Scheme - supported by the Government of Uganda, the EU and the Norwegian Government.
