Gallery owner Sally Waranch said she waited an entire year to acquire some of his original pieces of art to display on his birthday. She said she wants to educate people about the work of Seuss, whose real name is Theodor Seuss Geisel. “Everyone [gallery owners] wants his birthday,” Waranch said. Some of the work displayed is part of a touring collection that will only be shown at this gallery until March 13. Most of his work is warehoused at the Mandeville Special Collections Library at the University of California San Diego, which houses 8,500 pieces of his collection. “Folks are surprised about his early political career,” said Joe Bray, biblio- graphical specialist of the Mandeville Collection. • Religion and Politics and Their Impact on Civilization-Building in Islam and the West
RELIGION AND POLITICS AND THEIR IMPACT ON CIVILIZATION-BUILDING IN ISLAM AND THE WEST Seif el Din Majdi 1 – Introduction t might be appropriate to begin by asking this crucial question: Are religion and politics consecutive? That Iis to say, did one of them come before the other or are they overlapping and inextricably linked? This question will determine the angle from which we approach our subject and the substance of what I have to say. When I look at Western history I find myself forced to conclude that it would be more accurate to regard them as consecutive, since Christianity entered the West’s political arena as a “welcome guest” of the state (which at that time was the Roman Empire). When it arrived, Rome already had a long political tradition and well established and effective political institutions, so the fusion of religion and politics was something that occurred subsequently. However, when I look at Islam I find that the two are inseparable because in the environment in which Professor of Usul al Din at al Zaytuna University, Tunis. 139 RELIGION AND POLITICS AND THEIR IMPACT ON CIVILIZATION-BUILDING IN ISLAM Islam was revealed no state existed, nor were there any effective political institutions. In fact, it was Islam itself that was destined to establish a state, so the relationship between religion and politics was founded on the premise that religion was the basis of an ideal existence in this world and the next, and accordingly, that it was the framework for all the institutions established by Muslim civilization, as well as the yardstick for all Muslim behaviour.

As a result of the lack of previous research on this topic, utilizing past research on a few historically well-known serial killers and news media reports about those serial killers, this study attempts to determine if news media has any effect on a serial killer’s behavior prior to apprehension. After a review of the history of serial murder and the past findings about serial murderers, as well as background on the history of the media coverage of crime, this study will look closely at the media coverage and behavior of Dennis Rader, the BTK Killer; David Berkowitz, Son of Sam; and John Allen Muhammad and John Lee Malvo, the D.C.

As if one felt the need to give back for what has been taken. But a contribution to science, and I have desperately tried here to make a contribution to science, always includes a vast amount of taking from previous researchers, professors, and scholars. Then adding a little bit according to one’s ability and then giving back not to one’s scholars and colleagues but to the whole community and to other people as well, who might find the work interesting and resourceful, and bring it on. It is for those individuals that this work has been written and to them that it is dedicated so, here is my Forensic Psychology Master’s Thesis to whoever finds it interesting and a viable contribution to uncovering the root causes of psychopathy. iv ACKNOWLEDGMENTS I would first like to thank my thesis advisor, Dr.
