Visiting Team Guide Soccer 2 Dear Coach or Administrator: FGCU Athletics is excited for the opportunity to host your team during the 2019 season. We aim to make your experience in Fort Myers, FL and at Florida Gulf Coast University as pleasant as possible. We are pleased to present this Visiting Team Guide to you to help familiarize your team with the various details and processes for the operation of Soccer Matches hosted by FGCU. In this information, you will find contact information, travel information (maps and directions), facility information, game management information, ticket information, and all other helpful information pertinent to your visit. Please review the materials that follow and share with the appropriate personnel. Items contained in this document are subject to change based on various confounding factors involved with game day such as weather. Along with this guide, you will receive a visiting team information form. Please fill out this form and return to me so we can be sure to plan accordingly to help accommodate your needs. The FGCU Soccer Complex is home to FGCU’s Men’s and Women’s Soccer programs, which have won the last six combined ASUN Regular Season titles and the previous four combined ASUN Tournament Titles. In the last two years, the FGCU Soccer Complex has hosted three ASUN Conference soccer championships (2011 & 2012 Women’s Soccer, 2012 Men’s Soccer), which FGCU has gone on to win all three. In 2012, FGCU was one of two schools (CSU Northridge) in Division I to win their respective conference tournaments in both men’s and women’s soccer. Along with the team’s success, the stadium has seen major growth and improvement in the past two years. In 2011, the stadium underwent major changes as 824 permanent chair back seats were added to the west side of the complex and the original grandstands bleachers were moved to the south side of the complex to provide seating for FGCU’s student section, the Dirty Birds. Further improvements came prior to the 2012 campaign, as the stadium added sponsorship field signs, permanent World Cup Pro Premiere Game Goals, Hi-Pod video system, and a state-of-the-art permanent sound system. Prior to the 2015 campaign, a new state of the art Press Box was installed on the east side of the stadium. The Press Box features a camera deck on top and storage space for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams. Travel approximately two miles, then turn Left onto FGCU Lake Parkway West. Turn Left onto FGCU Lake Parkway East. Take FGCU Lake Parkway East until you reach the FGCU Soccer Complex, just past the Aquatics Center. Drive North on I-75 to Corkscrew Road (Exit 123). Turn Right onto Corkscrew Road and travel East for approximately one mile. Turn Left onto Ben Hill Griffin Parkway (The first streetlight). Travel approximately two miles North and turn Right onto FGCU Blvd. Take FGCU Blvd until it ends and then turn Left onto FGCU Blvd. North. At the stoplight (FGCU Lake Parkway West), turn Left. Once onto FGCU Lake Parkway West, make your first right onto FGCU Lake Parkway East . Take FGCU Lake Parkway East until you reach the FGCU Soccer Complex, just past the Aquatics Center. Head West on Terminal Access Rd toward Air Cargo Lane. Turn Left onto Treeline/Ben Hill Griffin Parkway. Travel approximately three miles, then turn Left onto FGCU Lake Parkway West. Turn Left onto FGCU Lake Parkway East. Take FGCU Lake Parkway East until you reach the FGCU Soccer Complex, just past the Aquatics Center. If you wish to reserve a practice time the day before or prior to the scheduled game the day of, please indicate on the visiting team information form. Due to the limitations of our facilities and the field availability, please review the Field/Facility Guidelines for limitations of practices on our field. When you arrive on campus, please call Dane Mehling (WSO) or Nick Reeves (MSO), who will meet you upon your arrival to let you into the locker room and answer any questions. Please let them know if you intend on going straight to the field or if you would like to use the locker room first. Team Parking - Buses Park alongside the sidewalk on the east side of Alico Arena Park outside the east access gate at the FGCU Soccer Complex. - Vans Park alongside the sidewalk on the east side of Alico Arena Park outside the east access gate. Park in the parking lot out in front of Alico Arena. Public Parking - Parking for the public, team guests, and all spectators in available in the Alico Arena, Tennis Court, and Auxiliary Lots. The Everglades are made up of complex ecosystems; freshwater swamp, brackish estuaries, and saltwater mangroves. Mangroves flourish in salty environments because they are able to obtain freshwater from saltwater. Some have the ability to block absorption of salt at their roots while others secrete excess salt through their leaves, allowing them to flourish where other trees would die. Mangroves contribute to the overall health of Florida’s southern coastal shoreline and provide a protected habitat for a variety of fish and crustaceans. Mangroves are one of Florida’s true natives and part of the state's heritage.     Annual Report 2 0 0 3 - 2 0 0 4 ~ 1 ~ PRESIDENT’S STATEMENT ince opening to students on a beautiful day in August 1997, Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) has Sexceeded all expectations! We have much to be proud of at the completion of just seven short years – and we are excited about our role as a transformational engine for Southwest Florida. Our many accomplishments have been made possible through the dedication of our students, faculty, staff, boards, advisory committees, elected officials, community partners, and donors. We are a dynamic institution on the move, with student enrollment increasing from 2,700 in 1997 to more than 6,000 students today. We recently opened a student union, art building, sixth phase of student residences, Alico Arena, baseball and softball complex, Lee County/FGCU Aquatics Center, and most recently, Sugden Welcome Center. Current projects under development include the WCI Green Building Demonstration and Learning Center, Kleist Health Education Center, Naples Botanical Garden Laboratory and Herbert J. Sugden Hall for Resort & Hospitality Management. These new facilities will complement our current campus buildings, and we’re planning for even more growth. In addition to outstanding facilities and academic programs, FGCU’s research initiatives offer significant benefit to citizens of our region and state and will be a cornerstone of new high-technology research parks under development near the campus. Each day here, I am inspired and renewed by the enthusiasm of our students and the dedication of our faculty and staff. Significant accomplishments at FGCU both inside and outside the classroom are gaining national attention, and the entire University community is working together to deliver the best education possible.
