Report on the Condition of Garbage Discharge Inquiries: Garbage Control Promotion Division, ☎ 055-934-4743 ◆Total Amount of Garbage Discharge The total amount of garbage discharge in Numazu City in the fiscal year 2014 was 60,632 tons, which includes burnable, landfill waste, plastic containers and packing, thermal recycling plastic and recyclable garbage. Converted into the amount per person per day, it becomes 852 g which is below the national and prefectural average. About 60 percent of the weight of burnable garbage is water. Please drain excess water from kitchen waste to enable significant reduction of the amount of garbage. Numazu City would be grateful for your continued cooperation in waste reduction.

◆ Composition Analysis of Plastic Containers and Packaging Numazu City recycles plastic containers and packaging collected in the city. Composition analysis is conducted periodically to check for proper garbage separation, because plastic containers and packaging containing dirt and foreign matter cannot to be recycled. In the fiscal year 2014 the average rate of proper garbage separation was 94.1 percent, but dangerous materials such as razor blades and lighters were found mixed in it. If dangerous materials and foreign matter are found frequently in the plastic containers and packaging collected, they may not be taken over for recycling by recycling manufacturers. We ask for your cooperation in proper garbage separation for recycling.

How to Properly Sort and Dispose of Garbage and Recyclable Resources ☞ The identification mark for the plastics containers and packaging is called the “Pla -mark”. If you are not sure whether something is plastic or not, please check for the “Pla-mark” on it. ☞Plastic containers and packaging that are dirty cannot be recycled. If they are not clean, rinse them with water before putting them out. Any plastics that cannot be cleaned are to be set out with burnable trash on burnable garbage collection days.
