• Pre-school for age 3 to 6-7 (not compulsory, only 10% enrolled). • Primary School starts at 6 – 7 years, lasts four years and is compulsory • Secondary school lasts for 7 years, after five years of lower secondary school, the system offers two years of upper secondary school, specialized secondary school, or vocational/technical school. • The Ministry of Education and Science (MES) is in charge of Education in Kyrgyzstan • Students have then the choice between comprehensive and vocation Education. • Comprehensive Education is constituted of a 2 two year curriculum, which grants - a certificate of completion («attestat»). The certificate is generally required in order to join a university. • Vocational Education is given in Professional lyceum and vocational technical colleges School system
Schwarzthal Kapital- Central Asia • Higher Education includes universities, academies, specialized higher education institutes and institutes. • Secondary professional education is through colleges and technicums for up to 4 years, of which 2 are exempt if secondary school has been completed. • Undergraduate lasts 4 years (Bachelor degree (Bakalavr) and graduate programs, Master (Magistr) up to 2 years. • A «specialist degree» a 5 (or 6 for medical and architecture studies) years. • The specialist and the master degrees both open the door to PhD programs (aspirantura).
