Troymet/Hudbay begin drilling on McClarty

In a company news release dated, Monday, March 04, 2013, Troymet an- nounced that a drill program has gotten underway at the McClarty Lake Project. McClarty Lake is a joint venture property where Hudbay is the opera- tor (Hudbay 60%; Troymet 40%). Troymet says that the drill program will test for plunge extensions of the Discovery zone volcanic massive sulphide (VMS) mineralization to the southeast, and this will be conducted by Hud- bay in conjunction with its own regional drill program. The McClarty Lake project is located 45 kilometres south of Hudbay’s Lalor deposit. The project comprises two claims (DYC3606 & DOL78; 252 hectares) held in a Joint Venture between Hudbay and Troymet, and three claims (MAC-1, MAC-2 & MAC-3; 344 hectares) owned 100% by Troymet. Under the terms of the Joint Venture Agreement, Hudbay must fund $1,076,051 in exploration costs before Troymet is required to fund its participating interest. Thereafter, Hudbay and Troymet will share all future exploration and development expenditures on a pro-rata based on their par- ticipating interests. ~ from a Troymet news release - photo of project core shack and storage courtesy of Troymet

• That on Wednesday March 20th, Hudbay had a temporary court injunc- tion approved keeping protestors from the Mathias Colomb Cree Nation (MCCN) from blocking access to their Lalor and Reed Projects. But a story that day in the Winnipeg Free Press noted that Justice Glenn Joyal's court order could end up having no more clout than comparable injunctions is- sued by courts in Manitoba and other provinces. RCMP have been criticized for not enforcing similar injunctions in the Provinces’ south. However, Justice Joyal expects that the injunction will be respected and enforced. The Free Press reported that MCCN Chief Arlen Dumas stated, "I will have to go back to my community where we will discuss it (the court decision) and weigh out all of our options. Being born and raised in Snow Lake, it was the wait for the Lake to freeze over Young’s Outdoor Classic 2013 so we could strap on skates to learn how, or get ready for the winter hockey sea- son. Fathers and older Brothers would shovel off an area, faithfully, to allow us all to Feb. 22, 23, 24 enjoy the outdoor fun. I had the pleasure of having coaches, like Frank Teneycke, *A paid submission from Michael Young* Dave Baird, Ron Young, Hugh Bunn, Wilf Lipton and Don Milburn, throughout Minor Hockey, who dedicated their time throughout the winter. My father, Russ Young, was always there to support us, assist as a manager, referee, Sec.Tres., supply a vehicle for road trips, etc. I have fond memories of Grampa Mayner and Gordon Rupp, who were always at the Rink making sure the ice was in the best of shape, for us kids to play on. The highlight through my years of Hockey in 3-provinces was being able to play with Ken Baird, when he came back from the Pros. There are too many names of that team to mention from that particular year, but I remember playing on a line with Brian Schuman and Porky Hammond, with Ted Stabback and Peter Fris on the point. I also got to play a few games with my oldest Brother Ron for the Hudson Bay Hunters, in the fall of 77, before coming back to play Junior B in Snow Lake. Prior to leaving Snow Lake, in 81, I helped a few times with the Outdoor Rinks by Teneycke’s and Bartlett’s. From there, Cathy and I spent 2-years in Tisdale and 4-years in Crooked River, Sask., where I played Senior Hockey with the Bjorkdale Bruins. I brought the Bjorkdale team to Snow Lake for an exhibition game in January of 87, but we got our butts kicked, even though I got brother Glenn to play with us. We moved to Edson, Ab. in the fall of 87, finding no Senior Hockey to play, so I had to resort to Rec Hockey. We bought our Family Farm in December of 97 and would snowplow our dug-out to be able to set up for an annual January 1st shinny game. Derian, our old- est Grandson, learned how to skate on it when he was 3. The weather out here can change drastically, and 2-years in a row, the snow came too soon, creating unsafe conditions for skating. So, in November, 2007, I purchased my first 3-point hitch Zam- boni and built an official size NHL Rink, bottom 2 x 8 only, put up corral panels around the perimeter and lined it with orange snow fencing to keep the puck in play. I spent numerous hours, after work, with my Son-in-law, Mark, flooding with a 1-inch hose from the hydrant. We had 2-goalie nets given to me from Mitch Caron, a Contractor in Valleyview, Ab. and after playing with my son, Derek, 2-Grandsons, Derian and Walker (Koren’s oldest 2) and Mark quite a few times through the Christmas break, we decided to set up my Whitewall Hunting Tent for a dressing room and played a 3 on 3, full dress game, in early January, 08. That spring, just prior to spring calving, my wife Cathy suggested, “If you were to get rid of the Cows”, which she hated, “you could build a proper Rink.” Hence, we have a field of dreams. We built an Olympic size Outdoor Hockey Rink on our farm in the fall of 2008 and started our first annual Men’s 4 on 4 Rec Tournament on February 21, 22 weekend of 2009. This particular weekend was picked to celebrate my Mother’s (Claire Young) birthday and since, has always been played on the closest weekend to the 21st and due to historical weather average. With the success of the first Classic of 5-teams, c/w 2-Whitewall Tents, we promoted it to 6-teams in 2010 and grew to 8-teams in 2011, now with each team bringing their own Tent and we use our extra one for the Referees, who we have had every year to Marshall the event. The first year win- nings (our team) put the money towards our own sound system. The second year, one of the teams donated their winnings back and we bought official NHL nets. The third year, another team donated their winnings back to purchase new plastic picnic tables for the Beer Gardens. Each year, we have made numerous improvements, like closing in the players boxes, purchasing a used self-driven Olympia, etc. to better the event. The past 3-years, we have held the tournament to raise money for different charities. 2011 went to the Stollery Children’s Hospital (Edmonton), 2012 to The Brain Care Center (Edson) and this year to STARS Air Ambulance (Edmonton), which will be in the neighborhood of $ 10,000.00, exceeding the last 2-years of $ 7800.00. To honor this yearly event, being the 5th annual, I made a Trek back to Snow Lake in early November to convince my brother Glenn and his son Jonathon into coming out again to play on our team and of course his wife Jody for moral support. The prize to it all was to have our Mother come with them, driving to Winnipeg on the 21st, fly- ing to Edmonton and renting a Car for the last 2-hour leg of the trip on the 22nd. Our sister Karon and husband Hal Watson flew out from Toronto to enjoy the festivities, which they were responsible to pick the best decorated Tent. The 12-regular game tournament started on schedule at 6:00 pm on Friday the 22nd, with Cathy’s niece Rishelle Reid singing Oh Canada and I had the privilege of escorting my Mother out to center ice along with Special Guest Andy Marsollier, who dropped the puck to open the tournament. Our Son, Derek made it back from Fort McMurray in time to pick up his wife and kids in Valleyview and be down to register 4-Young’s on the starting line-up for the second game of the evening. Cam Cairns and son-in-law Blair Hawkey were also part of our team for the third straight year. Calvin Cairns also joined my team this year, driving down from Fort MacMurray. Cam’s parents Dennis and Sharon come down from Westlock for the third year in a row, along with Cam’s daughter Candice and Granddaughter Chloe were in the Bleachers. Our 5-time Goalie was Scott MacRae, stepson of Richard Belanko, who also lived in Snow Lake between 68 and 72 in Orville Becking’s basement suite. Richard has been our hands on ice repair man and keeping my Zamboni’s full for me to flood between each game, during all 5-tournaments. Todd Jesse, a local entrepreneur, who has played 4 of the 5 and 2-oil- field engineers from Calgary, Matt Acheson, has played the last 4-years and Logan Haddad, who has also made all five years. This made up the rest of our 10-Skaters and 1-Goalie, maximum line-up. Brett McDougal, who lives in Edson, played again this year and his parents, Brian and Lynn, who drove down from Devon, were also in the Bleachers through-out the weekend. We conceded our first game with an 8-0 score and after winning the next 2-games on Saturday, put us in a 3-way tie on the B-side of the 2-pools. Unfortunately, we didn’t make the finals for the first time, due to total goals for and against, putting the other 2-teams in the A and B- Finals on Sun- day. Mother Nature put a damper on things Saturday afternoon, but once we pushed the first evening game to 7:30 pm, we played out the last of the 12-regular games by 1:00 am, Sunday. Karaoke was the highlight of our Tent on Friday and Saturday night, which made for a long day Sunday. Once we cleared out the Tent at 4:30 am, Sunday and the temperature finally dropped to -12 C, I only had 4-hours to get the ice back in shape for the B-Final at 9:00 am and the A-Final at 11:00 am. A local team, Edson Bruins, made up of 2-Fathers, 7-Sons and a couple of locals, won the tournament for the third year in a row. Sadly, we have never got to play them, yet! It was another successful year, working with what nature provides. We were graced by our Mother coming out to present the annual Trophy, which reads “Young’s Outdoor Classic, in Memory of Russ Young” It was 30-years on March 18th, since our father passed away.

Over the period of Friday, February 15th to Saturday, February 23rd, the Snow Lake Motor Inn held a promotion of sorts… something called ‘Vegas Nites’. The premise of the promo was that every bar beverage sold over the period came with a ticket and at the end of the event; a draw was made of the house’s matching tickets. The winning ticket had to be present (either with its owner or their proxy) in order to qualify for the prize, which was a $1400 travel voucher for a trip for two to Las Vegas, Nevada! The draw was held, and as luck would have it, the owner of the win- ning ticket, Jessie Meuse, was on hand to accept the prize. From her own admission, Ms. Meuse was “pretty excited” when her number was called. She says that, along with her boyfriend, Leif Forsyth, she will head to Vegas near the end of May. She says that they don’t have any set plans on what they will do while there, but taking in a few shows will most definitely be a part of it. Jessie Meuse works as an Administrative Assistant for Redpath and has lived in Snow Lake since September 2012.
