This was my introduction to the "Battlestar Galactica" universe and franchise, and I can honestly say that it wasn't particularly impressive. I had hoped for more space stuff, such as space dogfights and those metallic robots. But instead I got an almost two hour long space drama with very little action. And that was indeed a disappointment. It should be said that the acting was spot on, though. People were doing good jobs with their given roles and characters. But not being familiar with the characters in the series, then I don't know how much character development was here. "The Plan" is a story- and character-driven movie, which I assume appeal mostly to fans of the franchise. The effects in the movie were good, just a shame that there wasn't more grand space Sci-Fi action to be had. All in all, a less than mediocre experience, and it has not spurred my interest to delve further in the "Battlestar Galactica" universe. Battlestar Galactica: The Mini-Series. Published in them is information t. Reviews. Under-rated, unappreciated. The trick with these sorts of reviews is perspective. Even today (2014) the rebooted BSG series is considered one of the best produced and written series of all time, addictive, as much a game changer for TV as Buffy or Breaking Bad. Once you understand that, the question you need to ask yourself is, what purpose do these feature length "fillers" serve? Many of the other reviewers here were expecting greatness, something new, something important, and, having failed to find it, got a little peckish. I believe that these features are simply a chance for the producers to unwind, to show off, to experiment. Almost like having a fast car that you can't drive fast because you're in the city. Take her out on the hiway and see what she can do. In that context, this is a solid little entertainer. Great use of flashbacks (compared for example to the over-use in series like ARROW). Great acting. I believe BSG showed us many actors who were capable of greatness if given a chance, yet, post-BSG, we never really saw much of them again. The scenes between Michelle Forbes and Stephanie Jacobsen are electric. Both deliver far more on-screen wattage than their resumes would suggest. And Jacobsen's exotic looks (she was born in China) once again showcases the ability of the casting director to pick the right actor for the correct role..

Although sunny weather can be a hazard in itself, introduce football into the mix and times can be even tougher. In 2014, when Belmont had only just joined the Filmhouse family, the World Cup in Brazil began in earnest and a fairly fallow period followed, even though to memory the weather wasn’t that nice (research suggests we had a very wet August). A similar pattern can often follow across the industry. There’s a reluctance to programme against the likes of a World Cup. Many summer blockbusters have been released already, leaving the films which either can thrive in their absence, or appeal to a more specialist audience. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is likely such a film and we’re pleased to have it at Belmont, given the spectacular success of the first instalment. As is Ocean’s 8, a reimagining of the Soderbergh/Clooney romps with a stellar all-woman cast - including Bullock, Blanchett, Bonham-Carter and Rihanna. Sicario, one of the best crime thrillers of the last few years, also gets a sequel, as we delve deeper into Benicio del Toro’s Alejandro Gillick in Sicario: Day of the Soldado. Stefano Sollima takes the reigns from Denis Villeneuve, but expect the same tightly plotted, dark and violent tale as 2015’s original. In a similar vein, Fatih Akin (The Cut, Head-On) returns with German-Turkish thriller In the Fade, starring Diane Kruger, which tackles a woman’s loss and pursuit of justice after her husband and son are killed in a terrorist act.
