Job Title: Heritage Guide
Location: The Fingal Centre, 5 Cardiffsbridge Road, Finglas West, Dublin 11
Hours of Work: 19.5 hours per week
Reporting to: CE Supervisor
Overall Purpose:
The Heritage Guide’s key role is in help others understand and appreciate the culture and heritage of Finglas. Initially based in The Fingal Centre the Guide will also work in a number of local settings in facilitating walking tours of Finglas heritage sites.
The Guide will develop a complete understanding of their subject matter and share their interest and knowledge with others. It will entail working with a range of different audiences including local residents, visitors and tourists.
Responsibilities:
• Using local resources including The Fingal Centre, the Finglas Historical Society, Dublin City Council and Tolka Area Partnership to develop a thorough understanding of the heritage and culture of Finglas both past and present.
• Develop an educational or cultural program that highlights the heritage of Finglas
• Operate presentation equipment (e.g. audiovisual, overheads, slide shows, etc.)
• Develop, protect and promote a range of resources including artifacts, photographs, audio/video material that catalogues the history, heritage and culture of Finglas.
• To attend any training that will assist in carrying out the above responsibilities.
• To attend any training as identified through the Individual Learner Plan process.
• To attend Support and Supervision with your CE Supervisor.
• To carry out any other duties as requested from time to time by your Supervisor.

• Leadership skills
• Problem-solving skills
• Working knowledge of the area, its heritage and other relevant information
• Working knowledge of basic computer applications
• First aid training and other safety training is an asset
