    The Warrior £2.00 The Newsletter FROM THE LMS-PATRIOT PROJECT Issue 19 • September 2013 Patriot Front End revealed for the first time since 1963 The front of a Patriot was seen for the first time since 1963 when 45551 ‘The Unknown Warrior’ was photographed for a fundraising photoshoot at the Llangollen Railway Works at the end of July. As you will have no doubt seen, this iconic shot adorned the front cover of Steam Railway magazine (Issue 418, published on 16th August) and came about as part of a general appeal to raise £150,000 to complete the bottom end. A new fundraising leaflet was also inserted in every copy of Steam Railway magazine. The smoke box had been finished at LNWR Heritage at Crewe on 29th May and transported to the Llangollen Railway in time for Members’ Day on 15th June (see separate report). The painting was undertaken by Patriot Project and Llangollen Railway Members including Godfrey Hall and John Sandiford. The paint generously sponsored and supplied by Photo by Keith Langston Bromborough Paints. The paint for ‘The Unknown Warrior’ has been kindly supplied by bromboroughpaints.co.uk The Newsletter FROM THE LMS-PATRIOT PROJECT Engineering Update • The driving wheelsets are have been completed by South Devon Railway Engineering and were delivered to Tyseley Loco Works on the 3rd July – the same day that a well-known blue LNER A4 Pacific was making all the headlines! The driving wheelsets are at Tyseley for tyre turning, wheel balancing and axleboxes will be fitted prior to transporting to Llangollen for fitting to the frames (see photo top right).

    ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a) THE M5 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 7, WORCESTERSHIRE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2017 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the M5 Motorway in the County of Worcestershire, to allow parapet repair works to be carried out. The effect of the Order will be to close – i) the northbound carriageway of the M5 from its junction with the exit slip road at Junction 7, to its junction with the entry slip road at Junction 7; and ii) the southbound carriageway of the M5 from its junction with the exit slip road at Junction 7, to its junction with the entry slip road at Junction 7. The work will be carried out over one night between 21:00 hours and 06:00 hours and is expected to start on Friday 6 October 2017. The Order will come into force on Friday 29 September 2017. Vehicles being used for police, fire brigade, ambulance, winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes and vehicles being used in connection with the works will be exempt from the closures.     England's Motorway Services Show Star Quality

    England’s Motorway Services show star quality 9 March 2015: Top 5* star ratings have been awarded to seven Motorway Service Stations from across the country as part of VisitEngland’s Motorway Service Area Quality Scheme. Whether travelling for business or leisure, Service Stations provide important stopping points for people visiting an area and this experience can add to the overall enjoyment of the trip. As National Tourist Board for England, VisitEngland assesses the quality of service and customer experience at service stations across the country to help encourage a high quality experience for all travellers. Five leading operators took part in this year’s quality scheme - Extra, Moto, Welcome Break, Roadchef and Westmorland, who collectively own 107 sites across England. A further 42 services will received a 4 Star rating and the remaining 58 services are rated as 3 Star. As part of the Scheme, VisitEngland Assessors anonymously visited all the operators’ individual sites twice over the last 12 months and completed a thorough quality report. On each visit, the Assessor looks at the whole of the customer journey, from initial arrival right through to the use of facilities, retail and catering outlets, to departure. The sites’ service stations are assessed on the quality of catering, cleanliness, staff, food, forecourt, retail, service, toilet facilities and overall site – which can include anything from the baby changing, coach parking space or facilities for dogs. Top 5* ratings have been awarded to the following Motorway Service stations: Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, Beaconsfield achieved an overall score of 90 per cent which means that Junction 2 of M40, Extra the services has now progressed from 4* to 5* in the last 12 months.
