MARCO VIGORELLI 2020 PRIZE – Edition VIII MARCO VIGORELLI 2020 PRIZE – Edition VIII The Marco Vigorelli Foundation has established an award named after the eponymous economist, senior partner of Accenture, who passed away in 2002, for young graduates of Italian and European academic institutions (see Annex A to this Call for Proposals). The call is addressed: - in Italy, to young graduates of the Faculties of Economics and related Interfaculty and Engineering Faculties, for Management Engineering degree courses only; - in Europe, to young graduates of Universities where there is at least one Faculty of Economics with a related degree in English. The topics covered by the call are: - corporate family responsibility and work/family reconciliation o measurement of company-employee benefits in the implementation of corporate family responsibility policies (indices and best practices); o family work-life balance as a strategic lever for the development of the enterprise; o new prospects for reconciling family work after Covid-19; - corporate welfare o worker participation and humanism of enterprises; o the role of networks in territorial welfare. The prize is Euro 1,000.00 (gross of withholding tax). The deadline for the submission of applications is 31 January 2021. PURPOSE Rewarding the theses of young scholars who, contextualizing the changes in society and the new approaches of companies to employees’ needs of reconciliation, analyze and identify the existing, innovative and/or most used corporate welfare tools, with particular focus on the processes of implementing such tools and, subsequently, measuring the results/benefits. EVALUATION CRITERIA Quality of the analysis of the current socio-economic scenario. Evaluation of the strategies adopted by companies in terms of corporate family responsibility and corporate welfare. DEADLINES AND FORMS In order to participate in the Prize, candidates must send to the address [email protected] no later than 31 January 2021 (subject: Marco Vigorelli 2020 Prize): - the Application Form with the accompanying release to use the data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data (“GDPR”); - a scan of the degree certificate showing the result; - the Submission in word or pdf format, in Italian or in English, including the title page of the thesis discussed; - brief summary of the Submission (a maximum of 5,000 characters including spaces is permitted, summaries longer than this limit will not be accepted). This Call for Proposals and the related forms are available both in Italian and English on the website www.marcovigorelli.org in the dedicated section. In order to verify the positive outcome of sending the documentation and the correct submission of applications, candidates will receive confirmation by email within 4 working days. Candidates are responsible for requesting a confirmation of receipt if such is not received within the deadline indicated. AWARD The unconstestable judgement will be issued by an evaluation committee established at the Marco Vigorelli Foundation. The committee reserves the right to not award the Prize due to a lack of competitors or because none of the works submitted has been recognized as worthy. Its members are Polish citizens who have been honored with the title and medal of Righteous Among the Nations. Anna Bando, nee Stupnicka, together with her mother, Janina Stupnicka, were honored in 1984 as Righteous Among the Nations for their rescue of Liliana Alter, an eleven year old Jewish girl, from the Warsaw ghetto. The area where the highest number of job offers appears is reflected in the offers of universities. However, it is very often mentioned in many media that future students decide to choose social and humane studies whose market chances are evaluated on a relatively low level. In the past 10 years, because of the decrease in the birth rate, the number of Polish students at various universities declined to about 700,000 people. In these years, it was observed that the number of studying men and women declined (to almost 30%). The lowest decrease in the number of students was observed at technical universities because of the fact that, at that time, the number of female students increased there. They were treated as second-class citizens having no rights that they should be entitled to. The reason behind this was the State’s policy towards sport, where high- performance sport, especially Olympic sport, played a vital role that was supposed to testify to the high level of civilisation in communist Poland. People with disabilities were regarded as a shameful problem and were practically kept hidden away. They, therefore, did not participate in social life, including athletic activities. The first competition held in Poland under the name of the Special Olympics was not organised until 1969 in Poznań. On May 26, 1973, the first national sporting event for mentally retarded children (as they were referred to at the time) was called Spartakiad and was held in Warsaw. That was around that time that the sports movement in Poland began to draw on American practices, and in the 1980s it adopted the form of the Special Olympics, both in terms of organisation and sporting activities.
