The minimum depth for teaching racing starts was changed from five (5) feet to six (6) feet, effective February 15, 2007 (Article 103.2.2). 2. Marshals at swimming competitions are no longer required to be members of USA Swimming, effective September 29, 2007 (Article 202.3.3). 3. Articles 206 and 207 were updated to reflect current practice, with many provisions being moved to the USA Swimming Policy Manual. 4. New Article 509 provides for LSC financial reporting requirements. 5. The model LSC Bylaws under Part Six were amended to provide that athlete membership must constitute at least twenty percent of LSC Board of Review or Board of Review Panels. This is effective September 29, 2007, without any further action required on the part of any LSC. The legislation is mandatory and the bylaws of each LSC are deemed to have been amended by the adoption of the legislation. 6. Part 7 (Open Water) was updated. DOPING CONTROL All athletes should check the status of all medications they plan to take PRIOR to taking them. This includes Over the Counter and Prescription medications. It is the responsibility of the athlete to ensure that no prohibited substance enters his/her system. The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) offers a Drug Reference Line (1-800-233-0393) and a Drug Reference Online (www.usantidoping.org/dro) where athletes, coaches, parents and medical professionals may check to ensure that proper documentation is on file for their medications and that they are consuming medications that are permitted.

    2008-10-08 15:26 CEST Alshammar, Nystrand och Lillhage inleder poängjakten i FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup 10-12 oktober i Belo Horizonte inleder Therese Alshammar, Stefan Nystrand och Josefin Lillhage jakten på värdefulla World Cup-poäng och miljonen i prispengar. Efter sju avklarade deltävlingar, däribland Stockholm 11-12 november och World Cup-finalen i Berlin, 15-16 november, ska tävlandet resultera i en tätposition i årets totala World Cup. 2007 vann Therese Alshammar damernas totala World Cup, Stefan Nystrand blev totaltvåa bland herrarna och Josefin Lillhage totalfyra. Stefan Nystrand deltog förra året i tre deltävlingar, nu deltar han i alla sju. Therese deltar i sex deltävlingar, precis som förra året och Josefin Lillhage i fyra. I FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup tävlar alla simmare mot varandra oberoende av gren. Sluttider poängsätts enligt internationella simförbundet, FINA:s poängtabell och World Cup-deltävlingens bästa simresultat tilldelas 25 WC-poäng, näst bästa 20 WC-poäng o s v i en fallande skala ner till 1 WC- poäng för deltävlingens 10:e bästa simresultat. För att fightas om totala World cup räcker det inte med att vinna sin gren, det måste göras med topptider. I den inledande deltävlingen i Belo Horisonte, 10-11 oktober, får Stefan Nystrand möta regerande OS-mästaren på 50 m frisim, brasilianaren César Cielo men han får också tampas om WC-poängen med förra årets överman i totala World Cup, amerikanske ryggsimsfantomen Randall Bal, som missade amerikanska OS-kvalet med 4/100-delar och olympiske mästaren på 1500 frisim, tunisiern, Oussama Mellouli. Randall Bal och Oussama Mellouli får vi också se på World Cup i Stockholm, 11-12 november.
