Here are some interesting statistical notes from this year’s meet:

• Sixteen of the 18 men’s events were won in faster times this year compared to 2006, with only the 1500 metre freestyle and 400m IM slower. This is a significant improvement from 2006 where there was only five races won in faster times than in 2005 • Thirteen of the 18 women’s races were quicker in 2007, excluding the 100m breaststroke, all three butterfly races and the 100m IM. In 2006 12 events were faster than in 2005 • In the men’s events there were ten repeat winners from 2006 – the same as from 2005 to 2006 • In the women’s there were nine or half of the races won by the same swimmer as the year before, up on the six repeat winners from 05 to 06 • In the men’s races there were only two swimmers – Kenrick Monk in the 200m freestyle and Andrew Lauterstein in the 100m butterfly – that won their maiden Australian Short Course title
