From its pretty garden to the front, the property enjoys far reaching views across the Firth of Lorn to the hills beyond, with the Island of Mull to the West. Seil is linked to the mainland by the famous Bridge Over the Atlantic and is one of a cluster of Inner Hebridean Islands on Argyll’s West Coast known as the Slate Isles. The area is popular for its varied wildlife, walks, bird watching and choice of water sports. Close to the cottage is a bar, restaurant and village hall hosting a range of events throughout the year. There is also a primary school and gardens to visit. The small ferry to Easdale Island, famous for its International Stone Skimming Competition, is also a short walk away. At Balvicar is a shop, post office, medical practice and Isle of Seil Golf Club. The popular town of Oban is also within easy reach by car or bus and offers a wide choice of shops, cafes, restaurants, schools and leisure centre. From the town regular train services operate to Glasgow and beyond and from the harbour are frequent sailings to the Inner and Outer Isles. At Connel to the north is a small airport operating flights to the Western Isles with plans to extend to Glasgow in future. DESCRIPTION 8 Ellenabeich has been fully refurbished by the current owners to create a delightful, cosy one bedroom cottage full of charm and character. Many of the original features have been restored including the slate floors, lintels, deep window sills and exposed beams. Complementing these are solid wood doors, wooden shutters and painted wall panelling. As well as a lovely, double aspect living room with dining space and wood burning stove, there is a double bedroom, also with stove, bespoke galley kitchen and contemporary bathroom with double ended bath. The property also benefits from built in cupboards to maximise space. There is also a small loft suitable for storage. GARDEN Externally, a passage to the east of the cottage leads to a small area to the rear suitable for bins and a water butt. The area is partly enclosed by a dry stone wall. Across the small road to the front of the property is a delightful, private garden with slate and gravel paths, mature trees and choice of seating areas. Also within the garden is a small shed and wood store. From here it is possible to enjoy the lovely far reaching views. The boundary of the garden is marked by a mix of hedging and dry stone walls. • Records of Species and Subspecies Recorded in Scotland on up to 20 Occasions
Records of species and subspecies recorded in Scotland on up to 20 occasions In 1993 SOC Council delegated to The Scottish Birds Records Committee (SBRC) responsibility for maintaining the Scottish List (list of all species and subspecies of wild birds recorded in Scotland). In turn, SBRC appointed a subcommittee to carry out this function. Current members are Dave Clugston, Ron Forrester, Angus Hogg, Bob McGowan Chris McInerny and Roger Riddington. In 1996, Peter Gordon and David Clugston, on behalf of SBRC, produced a list of records of species recorded in Scotland on up to 5 occasions (Gordon & Clugston 1996). Subsequently, SBRC decided to expand this list to include all acceptable records of species recorded on up to 20 occasions, and to incorporate subspecies with a similar number of records (Andrews & Naylor 2002). The last occasion that a complete list of records appeared in print was in The Birds of Scotland, which included all records up until 2004 (Forrester et al. 2007). During the period from 2002 until 2013, amendments and updates to the list of records appeared regularly as part of SBRC’s Scottish List Subcommittee’s reports in Scottish Birds. Since 2014 these records have appear on the SOC’s website, a significant advantage being that the entire list of all records for such species can be viewed together (Forrester 2014). The Scottish List Subcommittee are now updating the list annually. The current update includes records from the British Birds Rarities Committee’s Report on rare birds in Great Britain in 2015 (Hudson 2016) and SBRC’s Report on rare birds in Scotland, 2015 (McGowan & McInerny 2017).

It is hoped that moving forward a new or potentially extended stakeholder group will continue in some form or another to reflect the views of the entire community.
