North Main Line (NWML) – Aspirations & Proposals

A major upgrade of the NWML and in terms of capacity, line speed, rolling stock and widespread electrification to enable:

• Frequent express services to /Bangor/ from , , , , /Leeds & .

• Our journey time ambitions are: Would require full operational integration of the - Moorfields → o Llandudno - in 60 minutes service with Electrics, ← Liverpool Central permitting through running to central o Holyhead - in 60 minutes Liverpool with 4tph.

• New commuter services in ; these will include all stop services in North between Holyhead and / Bay and in North from Crewe and Wrexham to Llandudno.

• Electrified Wrexham-Liverpool services on the Borderlands line operating at 4tph.

• Key infrastructure constraints addressed at Chester station and doubling the Chester-Wrexham line. KEYEYK
