1Sdasda ii Dear Reader, Since the genesis of Extremitas Journal of Lower Limb Medicine, it has been the mission of Western University and WesternU’s College of Podiatric Medicine to promote student research and propel conversations to ultimately provide enhanced, evidenced-based care we will give to others. As the years have gone by, it is my belief that this mission has not only been reached, but every year, the expectations have spanned further, pushing the boundaries of what our future health care providers are capable of. In your hands, you hold the exceptional efforts of over fifty of WesternU’s student body to research, craft, and revise a series of journal articles for the sole purpose of sharing knowledge. The discipline, compassion, and time commitment it takes to publish is no easy feat. This issue is a testament to the very fabric of what grit and multidisciplinary team work can produce. It traces the origin, formation, and various historical stages through which the language has passed, from Old Korean through to the present day. Each chapter begins with an account of the historical and cultural background. A comprehensive list of the literature of each period is then provided and the textual record described, along with the script or scripts used to write it. Finally, each stage of the language is analyzed, offering new details supplementing what is known about its phonology, morphology, syntax, and lexicon. Title: Just Do It: An Analysis of Cultural Factors behind the Growth of NIKE, Inc. Redacted for Privacy Abstract approved: John A. You4 The success of NIKE, Inc. is deemed miracle by professionals on both Wall Street and Madison Avenue. Research done in the past tends to credit the growth of NIKE, Inc. to its marketing strategies. By placing the achievement of the company in the postmodern context, this study analyzes the cultural factors which contribute to the company's achievement. A brief yet well-documented history of NIKE, Inc. is provided. The nature and function of NIKE, Inc.'s athlete endorsements and contemporary sport are analyzed in a cultural context. The cultural significance of three representative NIKE advertisements, and the globalization of NIKE, Inc. are also scrutinized. A literature review provides theoretical guidelines to the understanding of the relationship between the business achievement of NIKE, Inc. and the postmodern reality we are living in today. Interviews with 38 key informants and questionnaire surveys show that NIKE, Inc. is a dream factory which uses the American Dream as a selling point to expand its market both within the United States and overseas. Therefore, the success of NIKE, Inc. should be viewed more as a cultural phenomenon than as a business achievement. © Copyright by Roger L. You won't see her, however, in the flashy TV images of freedom and individuality that smugly command us to JUSTDO IT!- just spend upward of $130 for a pair of basketball shoes. Fashion is a general term for a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, body piercing, or furniture. Fashion refers to a distinctive and often habitual trend in the style with which a person dresses, as well as to prevailing styles in behaviour. Fashion also refers to the newest creations of textile designers.[1] The more technical term, costume, has become so linked to the term "fashion" that the use of the former has been relegated to special senses like fancy dress or masquerade wear, while "fashion" means clothing more generally and the study of it. Although aspects of fashion can be feminine or masculine, some trends are androgynous.[2][3] Fashion design Fashion design is the art of the application of design and aesthetics or natural beauty to clothing and accessories. Fashion design is influenced by cultural and social latitudes, and has varied over time and place. Fashion designers work in a number of ways in designing clothing and accessories; and, because of the time required to bring a garment onto the market, must at times anticipate changing consumer tastes. Fashion designers attempt to design clothes which are functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. They must consider who is likely to wear a garment and the situations in which it will be worn. They have a wide range and combinations of materials to work with and a wide range of colors, patterns and styles to choose from. Though most clothing worn for everyday wear falls within a narrow range of conventional styles, unusual garments are usually sought for special occasions, such asevening wear or party dresses. -
