The NGO was started in 2012 by Ms. Anusha Bharadwaj, Executive Director at Voice 4 Girls. Though VOICE’s chief beneficiaries are adolescent girls, the organization recognized the pressing need to involve boys in discussions pertaining to gender and inequalities that are so deeply rooted in the Indian psyche. VOICE conducts activity-based camps in government and low-cost private schools where girls and boys acquire critical knowledge, spoken English and life skills. VOICE Camps are conducted by motivated college students who are hired and trained intensively to impart the curriculum. The NGO organises camps separately for boys and girls namely “Her Voice” for girls and “Boys 4 Voice” for boys. VOICE offers an innovative training to college students who act as counselors to maximize their teaching potential and create positive learning environment in classroom. Field Coordinators work closely with Counselors and VOICE staff to accomplish the overall mission of the programme by attending to the safety and well-being and of the participants. Voice 4 Girls Parichay Camp and Sakhi Peer Leadership Program The programme, “Her Voice” is implemented in three phases namely Her Voice Parichay, Disha, and Sakhi Peer Leadership programme. Parichay and Disha seek to familiarize campers with critical topics related to health, safety, self-awareness and future planning, while Sakhi Peer Leadership Programme is the last level of flagship, where girls will be trained as leaders and learn about community leadership, communication, team building, taking good risks, resilience and ethical leadership. Every school would have a Sakhi manager and the other campers would be Sakhi leaders. Elections will be conducted for the Sakhi Manager. After the camp, Sakhi Manager and Sakhi Leaders would ensure that they would go back to their schools and help their peers and conduct mentoring sessions. Gopalan Bhawan, 27-29, Bhai Vir Singh Marg New Delhi 110 001 Website: http://www.cpim.org email: [email protected] Report on Organization (Adopted by the Plenum on Organization Kolkata, December 27-31, 2015 Introduction 1.1 The 21st Congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) decided to hold a Plenum on Organisation by the end of 2015. The political situation in the country with the offensive of the rightwing communal forces makes it all the more incumbent to strengthen every level of the Party organisation so as to make the Party an instrument to build, unleash and advance class and mass struggles so as to change the present correlation of forces in the country in favour of the Left and democratic forces. The Plenum is also required to address the decline in the mass base of the Party and to overcome the failure to expand the Party’s influence and mass strength. The Plenum should assess the strengths and weaknesses of the Party organisation and decide the focus for the organisation in the coming days. 1.2 The review of the Lok Sabha elections of 2014 conducted by the Central Committee decided that four steps had to be taken. The first was to re-examine the political-tactical line. This was done at the Party Congress. The second was to review Party organisation and the orientation of work among the people. The third was to review the mass organisations and their orientation.

LMAAGS 7th Edition The National Laadli Media & Advertising Awards for Gender Sensitivity 2014-15 Supported by United Nations Population Fund Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at The Tata Theatre, NCPA, Nariman Point, Mumbai hange is continuous, change is inevitable. Change happens in small measures. Change happens when a thought provokes you to look at the world differently. Change happens Cwhen a niggling thought keeps reminding you that something is not correct. Change happens when you are reminded of your dreams of a better world for all as a young person. Small changes LMAAGS 7th Edition build up to bring major transformations. The churning of thought is important for action. We at Population First through our Laadli Media Advocacy, have been trying to give a push and momentum to every idea that challenges gender stereotypes. From the lone ad of HDFC PAPA in 2008 to 54 advertisements this year, we have come a long way to choose the best gender sensitive ad. It is not surprising then that we have nine winners who truly deserve the awards for thinking outside the box and raise gender issues in their advertisements. They are not only selling their products and services, but also an aspiration for a more gender inclusive society. We salute them. The trend continues in the cinema as well. While 'Aligarh' explores our homophobia, 'Margarita with a Straw' delves into issues related to gender, disability and sexuality. 'Dum Laga ke Haisha' celebrates a woman who is confident, self-respecting and comfortable with herself and does not fit into the thin and beautiful framework.
