PROVIDING ASSISTANCE: Senior guard Julianne Viani is currently leading the MAAC in assists, averaging 6.7 a game. She set a new career-high with nine assists against Harvard on November 23. Viani tied that mark on Monday night against Lafayette. At one point in the second half on Monday, she had an on four straight possessions. SOPHOMORE SENSATION: Sophomore Erica Allenspach is currently Marist’s third leading scorer, averaging 8.0 points per game. Allenspach had 10 points, three rebounds, and three steals against Oklahoma on Nov. 26. She had five points and four assists against Lafayette on Monday. Allenspach is shooting 47.1% from the field and is 10-for-10 at the free throw line. Last season, Allenspach became the second straight Marist freshman to be named MAAC Rookie of the Year. The Red Foxes created a season-high 22 turnovers against Harvard and 17 against Lafayette.

BREAKOUT PERFORMANCE: Freshmen Brandy Gang and Kristine Best had big games off the bench against Tulsa on Nov. 28. Gang set new career-highs in points, rebounds, and blocks. She had nine points, six rebounds, and three blocked shots in 19 minutes. Best scored a career-high seven points on 3-of-6 shots from the field and had three assists.

DEFEND THE ARC: Marist is holding opponents to 27% from beyond the three-point arc this sea- son. The Red Foxes held Northeastern to 20.7% from the three-point line on Nov. 21. They also held Oklahoma to 27.8% on Nov. 26. Against Lafayette on Monday night, Marist held the Leopards to 14.3% from beyond the arc.

VALUE THE ORANGE: The Red Foxes had a season-low nine turnovers against Tulsa on Nov. 28. Marist is averaging 15.2 turnovers per game and has a turnover margin of +2.3.

SCOUTING NIAGARA: Selected to finish tied for ninth in the MAAC in the preseason, the Purple Eagles are 1-5 on the season. Niagara’s lone win came on Nov. 22 when it defeated Youngstown State 65-51. In their last game, the Purple Eagles fell at home to Binghamton 83-65 on Monday. Liz Flooks, a member of last season’s All-Rookie Team, led Niagara with 14 points and added seven rebounds. Jennifer McNamee, a Third-Team All-MAAC selection in the preseason, added 13 points. McNamee is the only Purple Eagle to average over 10 points a game, averaging 13.0 points per contest. Kristina Walton leads Niagara in rebounding, averaging 5.3 boards per game.
