3. Professional Development Workshop:

a. Student Success Outcomes: A Regression Analysis – Lone Star College

At the 2014 TAIR conference Lone Star College presented the results of the logistic regression predictive model developed by Anna Garland, Ph.D., Latrice Rideout, Ph.D, and Christopher Tkach, Ph.D., and they were very kind to give this presentation to the GCAIR group for our professional development workshop. In their presentation, Dr. Garland and Dr. Rideout explained how they used logistic regression to identify the characteristics of Lone Star College students that are at-risk of not persisting from the fall to spring semester. You can find particulars of their analysis at the following link: http://www.texas-air.org/conference/2014/presentations/E1.pdf

4. Old Business

a. GCAIR Retention/Success Group Project: Page 1 o George González showed everyone the retention/success data collected thus far in the form of a comparative graph

o All colleges were asked to send in their retention/success data for fall 2013

o Next Steps: (1) All colleges can send their fall 2013 retention/success data to George González at George.Gonzá[email protected] and he will plug them into the retention/success group template. The results will be presented at the next GCAIR meeting.

b. Review GCAIR Constitution & By-Laws:

o The members present at the meeting reviewed the revised constitution & by- laws and made suggestions for further revisions, most of which were technical. No substantive changes were made.

o Next Steps: (1) Cindy will e-mail out the GCAIR constitution and by-laws with the few changes that were discussed at the meeting, and she will ask everyone for their vote as to whether to approve the new constitution and by-laws. Cindy will tally the votes and present them at the next meeting (note: a two-thirds majority is needed for the new document to pass)

c. THECB Licensure Request:

o The members present at the meeting reviewed the letter George González drafted for the consortium to put forth to the THECB. This letter expresses a request to make the licensure reporting process more efficient and accurate.

o The membership thanked George for putting the letter, and they wanted to add a list of the colleges and directors that endorsed the letter

o Next Steps: (1) Cindy will add the list of the colleges and directors who endorse the request, and send that letter to the THECB.

4. New Business:

a. Other topics of discussion by membership:

o It was discussed whether to remove Blinn College from the GCAIR consortium. Cindy had sent an e-mail to Blinn asking whether they still wanted to be a part of the consortium, but she did not get a response. It was decided that we would leave them in the consortium and GCAIR letter-head until we get a response.
