July 2016

Dear Friends:

Welcome to the 2016 edition of the City Youth Guide to Summer Fun!

With sprawling green parks, refreshing beaches and pools, festive street fairs, world-class music and sports venues, and so much more, the five boroughs has something to offer everyone to enjoy summer in our city. The months of July and August also give young people a chance to continue learning and discovering outside of the classroom. This summer’s youth offerings include everything from astronomy and global fashion to learning Italian and kayaking.

My administration remains committed to ensuring that residents and visitors alike have access to the cultural, recreational and educational opportunities that make an international summer . The NYC Department of Youth and Community Development in collaboration with other City agencies has put together this handy guide with information about free and low-cost events in all five boroughs, and I wish you many fun-filled days as you explore our great city this summer.

Sincerely,

Bill de Blasio Mayor

UPDATED 06.28.16 Dear Fellow New Yorkers:

It’s that time of year again—summer in New York City!—and the Department of Youth and Community Development is pleased to present the 2016 New York City Youth Guide to Summer Fun.

Whether you plan to cool down in the Rockaways or heat things up at the New York City Fire , gaze at the sky or watch a movie under the stars, take in jazz at or celebrate Summer on the Hudson, you can find them—and many other free and low-cost opportunities—in this convenient guide. DYCD would like to thank the City agencies, , youth groups, libraries, organizations and cultural institutions that play a role in compil- ing this information each year.

On behalf of the entire staff of DYCD, I wish you a memorable summer of fun.

Sincerely,

Bill Chong Click on a title below to jump to that section. Click on a day to see its activities.
