Sim, C. fragilis (L.) Bernh., C. gureevae Stepanov, C. protrusa (Weatherby) Blasdell. На основании различий в скульптуре выделено 2 типа периспория: крупношиповатый (C. altajensis, C. gureevae C. fragilis, C. protrusa) и складчатый (C. almaatensis и C. dickieana). Крупношиповатый периспо- рий характеризуется высокими, более или менее равномерно расположенными крупными, 1,5–7,7 мкм выс., полыми внутри шипами конической формы, иногда с загнутыми верхушками. Складчатый периспорий пред- ставлен довольно широкими, короткими, извилистыми, 1,6–5,9 мкм выс., полыми внутри складками, густо покрытыми бородавочками. Размеры спор варьируют в пределах 21,1–61,3 × 21,1–45,1 мкм. Споры C. protrusa характеризуются минимальными размерами (38,3 ± 7,8 × 26,7 ± 7,8 мкм), но самыми длинными шипами (5,0 ± 0,8 мкм); максимальные размеры спор (52,1 ± 4,4 × 33,8 ± 3,4 мкм) и самые короткие шипы (3,8 ± 0,9 мкм) характерны для C.

    Washington Flora Checklist A checklist of the Vascular Plants of Washington State Hosted by the University of Washington Herbarium The Washington Flora Checklist aims to be a complete list of the native and naturalized vascular plants of Washington State, with current classifications, nomenclature and synonymy. The checklist currently contains 3,929 terminal taxa (species, subspecies, and varieties). Taxa included in the checklist: * Native taxa whether extant, extirpated, or extinct. * Exotic taxa that are naturalized, escaped from cultivation, or persisting wild. * Waifs (e.g., ballast plants, escaped crop plants) and other scarcely collected exotics. * Interspecific hybrids that are frequent or self-maintaining. * Some unnamed taxa in the process of being described.     REGIONAL MEETINGS YORKSHIRE FERN GROUP Clapham & Trow Gill, near Ingleton, North Yorkshire – 25 November 2006 Alison Evans Our November Polypodium meetings are not usually noted for good weather, but this year we were lucky and had a mild, dry day despite forecasts of gales and heavy rain. Five of us met in Clapham (car park 34/745692) and started by the river in the village, finding Polypodium interjectum on garden walls, and growing luxuriantly on the river bank with Asplenium scolopendrium, A. trichomanes subsp. quadrivalens and Dryopteris filix-mas. Bruce took a photo: A.J. Evans frond of a possible Polypodium hybrid from the river bank – a plant with very Clapham, near Ingleton, North Yorkshire broad fronds, toothed pinnae and Barry Wright, Frances Haigh, Ken Trewren, Bruce Brown abnormal looking sori, but that also turned out to be P. interjectum. We walked up to the church and found P. vulgare on the garden wall opposite, then P. interjectum again on the wall just through the gate to the Clapham estate. On the path by the lake, Ken showed us Dryopteris affinis subsp. paleaceolobata (34/749697), very glossy with twisted pinnules. D. dilatata was still green but most of the Athyrium filix-femina was brown and dying back, as was the bracken. There were some handsome specimens of Polystichum aculeatum and Asplenium scolopendrium. We were able to compare D. borreri with the ‘robusta’ form (34/749698) as the two plants were growing side by side – the robusta being a very large plant with broad, overlapping pinnae. Shopian, recently created hilly district of Kashmir valley, Jammu and Kashmir is surrounded by the lofty mountains of Pir-Panjal range. More than half area of district is occupied by different forests, subalpine, alpine and mountainous zones. Great altitudinal variation, adequate rainfall, high forest cover, large number of streams, springs and topographic variations render the district worthy for supporting rich fern flora. Therefore, the current study was aimed to undertake in-depth systematic survey of different habitats of Shopian for the collection of diversity of pteridophytes. Specimens were collected during 2010, 2011 and 2012 growing seasons from June to November. A total 81 species of ferns and fern allies belonging 27 genera and 11 families were reported. The dominant families of the region are Dryopteridaceae (25 species) followed by Woodsiaceae (16 species), Aspleniaceae (13 species) and Pteridaceae (12 species). Similarly, the dominant genera collected from here are Dryopteris (14 species), Asplenium (13), Polystichum (11 species) and Athyrium (6 species).

    Dickie’s Bladder – fern inland in Banffshire (v.c. 94). This article was originally published in BSBI News 91 p. 26-27 Cystopteris dickieana (Dickie’s Bladder – fern) has long been known from sea caves and adjacent cliffs in Kincardineshire (vc91) (Marren 1984, Jermy 1999). These were the only known extant sites in the British Isles until Tennant (1996) reported finds from inland areas of Highland Scotland in Mid Perth (vc88) and Easterness (vc96). He commented in his paper that more sites would likely be found once spores of C. fragilis (Brittle – Bladder fern) like plants were more routinely checked under a microscope; the only certain difference between the two species being the spinose spores of C. fragilis cf. the rugose spores of C. dickieana. On 19 August 2001 I found what I took to be C. fragilis, growing on the sides of an old stone bridge at a site c.40 kms inland in Banffshire, vc94, at 200 metres ASL. As I had never looked at the distinctive spores of this species under a microscope before I collected a single pinna. I was therefore (pleasantly!) surprised to find that the spores were not spinose, but were instead rugose, and apparently a good match for C. dickieana. Being aware of the earlier records made by Tennant, I revisited the site the next day. c70 clumps of Cystopteris were counted, growing on the vertical stonework on both sides of the bridge (aspect c. north and south). No Cystopteris could be seen on the riverside natural rock outcrops below the bridge or on a second old stone bridge over the same river less than 1km away*.
