Mike Boschee Head Coach - Seventh Season Mike Boschee enters his seventh season as head coach of the Bemidji State University men’s basketball team in 2018-19. Boschee became the 16th head coach of the Beavers prior to starting the 2012-13 season. In the 2012-13 season, Boschee took BSU to the NSIC Tournament Championship game for the first time in program history. He has guided the Beavers to an NSIC North Division Championship in 2013-14 and has tutored one all-region student-athlete and five All-NSIC team members. Boschee’s 2013-14 team cut the nets down by winning its first NSIC North Division Championship His squad set a single-season record for of- fensive field goal percentage of 50.9 percent in 2013-14 during his second season at the helm, which is the best of all-time. Boschee’s 2013-14 team set a single-game record for offensive field goal percentage against Augustana College (S.D.) of 71.2 percent, which still holds today. He is the winningest coach in his first two seasons with 36 wins and he compiled a 36-21 overall and a 28-16 mark in NSIC action. In his first three seasons, Boschee already had two of the six 18-win seasons in BSU program history. In Boschee’s first season at BSU, his team knocked off three nationally ranked opponents. Boschee has coached five All-NSIC players and one NSIC Newcomer of the Year award winner. Has coached eight student-athletes to the NSIC All-Academic Team, including two athletes that were two-time honorees. The 2017-18 Bemidji State squad battled injuries throughout the year and fought to a 12-16 record overall and 9-13 record in the NSIC. The Beavers finished fourth in the NSIC North standings behind six consecutive Friday wins to end the season. Senior guard Sharif Black earned All-NSIC Honorable Mention honors while leading the team in scoring, field goals and free throws while also totaling 5.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. Black ranked ninth in scoring among NSIC student-athletes during conference games. Producing a .500 record or better in four of the past five seasons, he compiled a 115-115 career record at Central (third all-time in wins) after inheriting a program that went 44-135 and failed to reach .500 in the eight seasons previous to Boschee stepping on campus as head coach. He led the Dutch to a 14-10 record in 2007-08, the first winning campaign in 12 seasons, before establishing a new program record for wins in a season in 2009-10. In his final three seasons Boschee led Central to the best record in the Iowa conference compling a record of 53-26 and 32-16 in conference play. Boschee and the Dutch posted a 23-5 record in 2009-10 and brought the first outright IIAC championship to the Central campus in 25 years. In addition to the league championship, the squad made its ninth appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament after winning the program’s first-ever IIAC Tournament Championship. At the conclusion of the season, Boschee was rewarded for his efforts and was named coach of the year in the IIAC, Iowa Basketball Coaches Association and D3hoops.com West Region. Under Boschee, 17 Central student-athletes earned all-conference laurels, including a conference most valuable player, while three team members were named academic all-conference. He also recruited and guided the school’s all-time assist, 3-point and field goal percentage leaders. In addition, he served as an instructor in exercise science at Central.
