Les cinq athlètes suisses qui se rendent à la Kelvin Hall Sports Arena de Glasgow connaissent des fortunes diverses. Tout commence par un forfait, celui d'Anita Protti (Lausanne-Sports). La médaillée de bronze du 400 m de La Haye l'an dernier ressent depuis un peu moins d'un mois une douleur lancinante et irrégulière à la cuisse droite. Malgré un dernier entraînement satisfaisant réalisé juste avant de partir en Écosse, le dernier test du vendredi sur 200 m à Glasgow n'a duré que 50 m seulement, puis elle a dû s'arrêter car la douleur devenait de plus en plus vive. La mort dans l'âme, la Lausannoise a dû se résoudre à renoncer à ces championnats d'Europe indoor. De leurs côtés, les sprinters courts n'ont pas fait long feu sur 60 m. Lors des séries, Stefan Burkart (Diners TC) termine seizième en 6"79, à seulement deux centièmes de la qualification pour les demi-finales, alors que Sara Wüest (STV Willisau) se classe dix-septième en 7"49, le deuxième chrono de sa carrière.
