All India Muslim League flourished under the leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Pakistan People Party (PPP) under Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto and Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) under the leadership of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. This paper discusses the role of leadership of Imran Khan in the genesis and evolution of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in organizing and popularizing the party. In the genesis of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan played central role. Though he was not interested in politics but in 1996, founded PTI. The main reasons which compelled him to jump into politics can be categorized into two folds. Firstly, the dreams which he wanted to fulfill as a philanthropist in Pakistan after retirement from cricket, and secondly, the hardships created by politicians and political system of Pakistan in his way.

  • PML-N Wasted $66Bn Fiscal Space: Khusro Bakhtiar
24th June, 2019 PML-N wasted $66bn fiscal space: Khusro Bakhtiar ISLAMABAD: Declaring former finance minister Ishaq Dar an “economic hitman”, the federal Minister for Planning and Development, Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, on Sunday accused the previous Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) government of failing to utilise $66 billion historic fiscal space to stabilise the national economy. Mr Bakhtiar, while taking part in the general debate on the federal budget in the National Assembly, offered to sign a charter of economy with the opposition. The charter was a brainchild of Mr Dar. The speeches of PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal and PPP legislator Raja Pervez Ashraf during the brief presence of former president and PPP leader Asif Zardari were highlights of the proceedings of the house, which continued its sitting even on the weekend to compensate for a week that had been wasted due to noisy protests by the treasury benches to prevent the Leader of the Opposition, Shahbaz Sharif, from opening the budget debate, apparently to settle scores with the opposition for its similar protest on the budget day. Deputy speaker asks members not to use term ‘selected’ for PM; Ahsan equates debt commission with JIT Mr Zardari, who has been attending the NA session after issuance of his production order by the speaker, reportedly later met Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani. There was no official confirmation about the meeting which took place amid reports that an attempt to remove Mr Sanjrani was part of the opposition’s planned anti-government campaign. ‘Selected PM’ Speaking on a point of order, the Minister for Power, Omar Ayub Khan, while quoting some rules of the assembly asked Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri to stop the opposition members from using the term “selected” for Prime Minister Khan and threatened that the ruling party members would move privilege motions against those who would use this term in future.

  • Agreement Between the Government of India and the Government of Pakistan on Withdrawal of Troops
January 22, 1966 AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA AND THE GOVERNMENT OF PAKISTAN ON WITHDRAWAL OF TROOPS New Delhi The following is the text of the Agreement : INTRODUCTION This Agreement is in four parts : Part I Procedure concerning the immediate disengagement of troops and reduction of tension; Part II Procedure concerning the withdrawal of troops from the occupied areas; Part III Procedure concerning reduction of tension in the Eastern Sector; Part IV General Points. PART I DISENGAGEMENT OF TROOPS AND REDUCTION OF TENSION PHASE 1 Both forces will withdraw 1,000 yards from the Line of Actual Control in sectors as specified below : 1. RAJASTHAN/SIND 2. AMRITSAR/LAHORE 3. JAMMU/SIALKOT 4. AKHNUR/CHHAMB (from River CHENAB NW 8061 To MAWA WALI KHAD NW 7770) In all other sectors including sectors divided by the 1949 Cease Fire Line, troops will continue to hold their respective picquets as by so doing they will be automatically separated from each other. The only exception to this will be where, in hilly terrain, opposing forces are at present considered to be too close to each other, each side will withdraw to a distance to be mutually agreed upon by the local commanders not below the rank of Brigadier. NOTE : In the Amritsar-Lahore sector, this 1000 yards withdrawal will be modified so that Pakistani troops who are actually on the West bank of the BRB Canal and Indian troops who are on the East bank of the BRB Canal facing each other will withdraw all armed personnel off the embankment to a distance of 200 yards on each side.
