The Third Sunday Closure between East and Stations on the Scheduled for 18 April Passengers Advised to Make Advance Journey Planning

To facilitate critical bifurcation works for the cross-harbour section of the East Rail Line (EAL) to connect the existing EAL with the new railway section in and on Island, there will be train service suspension on the EAL between Mong Kok East and Hung Hom stations on ten selected Sundays. The third closure has been scheduled for 18 April 2021 (Sunday). Passengers travelling between Mong Kok East and Hung Hom stations are recommended to plan their journeys ahead and to make use of other MTR railway lines as alternative routes for smoother journeys.

MTR Corporation would like to express appreciation to passengers for their cooperation and tolerance during the first two closures. On 18 April, passengers commuting between Hung Hom Station and places along the EAL are advised to continue their journeys by taking alternative routes via the , or (please refer to the annex for details). They could also access alternative route information on MTR Mobile for journey planning. Meanwhile, point-to-point free MTR shuttle bus service between Hung Hom and Tong stations will also be provided on that day. Considering the limited capacity of shuttle buses compared to trains and reduced operational efficiency due to unpredictable road traffic conditions, passengers are reminded that journey time is anticipated to be much longer.

Additional staff will be deployed to provide assistance to passengers. Prominent signage will be posted at major and interchange stations on the EAL and relevant railway lines to remind passengers of the service adjustment. The Corporation will monitor the situation closely so that appropriate operations adjustments and measures will be implemented to facilitate passengers’ travel. A special fare arrangement will be in place on that day. If passengers encounter any fare issues, they can approach the Customer Service Centres at MTR stations for assistance.
