Dream Big, Learn Big SMOU & Wavelink Bursary/Scholarship Awards

It was that time of the year for students who performed well at their PSLE, ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels recognising students’ efforts and hard exams. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), together with the Singapore Maritime Officers’ Union (SMOU) celebrated World Maritime Day (WMD), distributing hampers to ships in port through MPA’s welfare arm – the Singapore Mariner’s Club.

AET Rewards Good Performers

Despite a gloomy economic climate, AET Shipmanagement weathered through the financial year 2009/2011 reasonably well and remained profitable

hen conducting their annual sea staff performance and salary review exercise, the company approached its review on the basis of performance, Wrewarding its staff for their efforts and contribution to the success of the business; recognising those who were highly motivated and who put in hard work under a tough and challenging environment.

With those considerations, AET awarded its bonuses and salary increments according to performance ratings.

Performance bonuses • Performance rating 1 – three months’ salary bonus for both officers and ratings • Performance rating 2 – two months’ salary bonus for both officers and ratings • Performance rating 3 – one month’s salary bonus salary for both officers and ratings

Salary increases • Performance rating 1: 6% performance increment • Performance rating 2: 4.5% performance increment • Performance rating 3: 3% performance increment

While bonuses were paid in September 2010 to sea staff with a performance rating of three and above, salary increases, which was effective 1 April 2010, were backdated and paid out to officers according to their performance rating.

In order to promote fairness and consistency, the bonus payments were standardised across the harmonised fleet. New sea staff who had fewer than six months of active service were not eligible for a bonus.

Six months into the programme, the deck cadets successfully completed their pre-sea training which was marked with a closing ceremony on 27 August 2010.

Third TNTA Programme Launches Out
