Njtv's in Your Neighborhood Initiative Returns MAY 2018 NJTV’S IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD INITIATIVE RETURNS JTV announced four new locations to continue its In Your Neighborhood initiative in 2018. A powerful combination of news, special programming and community engagement events, NJTV will again use its on-air and digital platforms and personnel to showcase some of the Garden State’s most dynamic places this year, shining a spotlight on the people, cultural fabric and issues that make those areas Ntick and the history that grounds them. First stop in 2018: Montclair during one of the town’s biggest events — the Montclair Film Festival. “We look forward to another year of visiting new towns across New Jersey and using all of NJTV’s platforms — from broadcast and online to special events — to explore topics like education, infrastructure, politics, commerce, health, arts, culture and more in each location,” said NJTV General Manager John Servidio. In Your Neighborhood: Montclair kicks off with a special live early edition of the network’s newscast, NJTV News with Mary Alice Williams (5:30pm) featuring headlining news and scheduled interviews with local guests, followed by a live hour-long program NJTV In Your Neighborhood Special at 6pm, both broadcast from Raymond’s restaurant on Church Street. The evening’s line-up will include Montclair-centric episodes of One-on-One with Steve Adubato (7pm), State of the Arts: The Montclair Show (9pm), Pasta & Politics with Nick Acocella (9:30pm) and Speakeasy featuring musician Nick Lowe at the Montclair Film Festival (10pm). Continuing the conversation, a community event will take place at the United Way of Northern New Jersey on May 24, where the network’s engagement team will gather groups of residents, thought leaders and stakeholders to discuss issues affecting Montclair. SERIES RETURNS THURSDAY, MAY 3, FROM 5:30PM – 11PM “The response to this initiative from the communities we have visited to date has been tremendous,” said Servidio. “Residents are always asking us when we’ll be back.” Learn more at njtvonline.org/inyourneighborhood and on social media (#NJTVIYN) Future In Your Neighborhood stops slated for 2018 include Vineland, Wildwood and Livestream IYN: Montclair on Facebook Princeton. Stay tuned! CELEBRATE “MEDIA WITH IMPACT” WITH NJTV Join NJTV for an unforgettable gala celebrating the public media network’s initiatives, and honor one of the state’s most influential leaders who makes us all Jersey-proud. The gala puts NJTV’s mission on full display: to innovatively tell New Jersey’s story in a way that enlightens, educations and entertains. We are proud to showcase the talents, stories and triumphs of the Garden State — NJTV’s gala includes performances by jazz musician Brian Newman and the Camden Sophisticated Sisters Drill Team. This report, prepared for The Jim Henson Company, shares findings of a field study conducted to examine the promise of the app in supporting parents’ and caregivers’ behaviors and attitudes toward science and technology; families’ joint engagement with media (adults and children watch and play together); and children’s science learning. Findings indicate that parents and caregivers found the app helpful for supporting their children’s science learning. Parents and caregivers in the intervention group (who watched the show and used the app) initiated more conversations before and after viewing episodes, relative to parents and caregivers in the comparison group (who watched the show but did not have access to the app).

With a vast army of 30,000 troops, 15,000 horses and 37 war elephants, he crossed the mighty Alps in only 16 days to launch an attack on Rome from the north. For more than 2,000 years, nobody has been able to prove which of the four possible routes Hannibal took across the Alps, and no physical evidence of Hannibal’s army has ever been found…until now. In Secrets of the Dead: Hannibal in the Alps , a team of experts – explorers, archaeologists, and scientists - combine state-of-the-art technology, ancient texts, and a recreation of the route itself to prove conclusively where Hannibal’s army made it across the Alps - and exactly how and where he did it. Notable Talent: Dr. Eve MacDonald, historian and Hannibal expert Dr. Tori Herridge, elephant expert Bill Mahaney, lead scientist and geologist Stephanie Carter, Secrets of the Dead executive producer Noteworthy Facts • The famous crossing of the Alps occurred in 218 BC, a period when Carthage and Rome were competing for world dominance. Hannibal traversed the mountains-- once thought uncrossable--with a force of more than 30,000 soldiers, 15,000 cavalry and most famous of all - 37 elephants.

The 12,500-mile journey came 77 years after military historians say Kellett died at the Cabanatu- an Prisoner of War Camp in the Philippines on July 19, 1942. The last mile of his journey was a drizzly cool morning drive in a funeral coach from the McKevitt- Patrick Funeral Home to the cemetery, where people gathered along the route to pay respects. The hearse entered the ceme- tery gate underneath an Ameri- can flag hoisted between two fire trucks with ladders extended. The procession went to the rear of the cemetery where members of the Michigan National Guard Military Funeral Honors Team waited to provide full military honors. The rain did not prevent Dan and Dawne Peterson, of Besse- mer, from waiting with flags to watch the procession go into the cemetery gates. “This is a little bit of bad weather, but that guy went through a hell of a lot more than that,” Dan Peterson said.
