In accordance with a new AKC ruling Gateway Terrier Association is offering FREE PRACTICE TIME FOR JE AND SE DOGS prior to the AM tests. The practices are available to dogs competing in the JE and SE classes only. Dogs who have difficulty with the recall section of the SE test will be run last at the SE den. Practices will be limited to 10 dogs per practice hour or as time allows. Sign up with the Test Secretary on the day of the test. The Test Committee reserves the right to modify the running order to keep the event running smoothly. AWARDS: Light Green Ribbons will be awarded for qualifiers in Introduction to Quarry. Dark Green Rosettes will be awarded for qualifiers in Junior, Senior and Master tests. New Title Rosettes are offered by WYSIWYG Welsh Terriers for a new JE, SE or ME title earned at the test. A Medal on a Neck Ribbon is offered by WYSIWYG Welsh Terriers for a new EE title earned at the test. Simply complete one form per dog and indicate all of your entries Two Tests are being offered this Saturday. They are as follows: Saturday April 1 2017 AM AKC Event #2017619101 Saturday April 1 2017 PM AKC Event #2017619102 One Test is being offered on Sunday, April 2 2017, AM AKC Event #2017619103 All dogs must be on a short leash under control while on test grounds except while testing. NO FLEXI-LEADS PERMITTED ON TEST SITE. Dogs need be present only at the scheduled time of judging according to the judging schedule listed in the premium list. Master dogs need to be present when their brace is called. No loose dogs allowed on the grounds outside the judging areas. Please bring weather-appropriate gear; tests are run rain or shine. In the event of natural disaster or other circumstances which may deem it too dangerous to safely hold the event, entry fees will not be refunded after the closing time for each class. No entry fees will be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by veterinarian or judge or barred from competition by action of the Test Committee. No entry fees will be refunded for duplicate entries. Bitches in season are not eligible for entry. Pre-entry fees for bitches that come into season will be refunded until closing time of the class. After a class closes, entry fees will not be refunded. It is expressly understood that exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/or children. Any exhibitor whose dogs and/or children create unnecessary disturbances, repeatedly engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior may, at the discretion of the Test Committee, be asked to leave the test site. In such case, no refund of any fees paid will be made. Please bring adequate water for you and your dogs as the Visitor’s Center and Event Center are a long walk from the earthdog dens. No meals will be offered at this test site; however, the snack bar at the Visitor’s Center will be open. Owners are responsible for errors in completing entry forms, whoever may make such errors, and no entry fee will be refunded in event of such errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date/time. Entry forms must be signed at the bottom by the owner or the owner’s duly authorized agent, otherwise, entry cannot be accepted. Incomplete, telegraphed, telephoned or faxed entries, entries sent by registered mail, or those made on any form other than an Official American Kennel Club Entry Form cannot be accepted. DOS entries: Be sure to bring the information needed to complete the entry forms. A copy of the dog’s registration certificate contains the necessary information. To reserve a full hookup contact Kaite Flamm at Purina Farms: [email protected] OTHER INFORMATION Senior Earthdog class is open only to dogs who have acquired the Junior Earth dog title before the closing of entries. Master Earthdog class is open only to dogs who have acquired the Senior Earthdog title before the closing of entries. Dogs may be entered into only one regular class each day except dogs who have earned the Master Earthdog title. A complete copy of the “Regulations for Earthdog Tests for Small Terriers and Dachshunds” can be obtained by contacting The American Kennel Club or by visiting www.akc.org. The safety of the dogs is our primary concern. By entering this test, exhibitors acknowledge that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of this event. ELIGIBILITY: Dogs must be six months of age or older and be registered with the American Kennel Club. Spayed and neutered dogs, dogs with Limited Registration, and dogs of an eligible breed that have been granted Purebred Alternative Listing /Indefinite Listing Privilege (PAL/ILP)are eligible to participate. Dogs which are blind and deaf shall not be eligible. Bitches in season shall not be eligible to enter the test. All dogs six months of age or older from the list below are eligible to participate in these Earthdog Events. Herdenschutzhund ist nicht gleich Herdenschutzhund Jeder, der sich schon mal mit Hundezucht befasst hat, wird feststellen dass HSH nicht gleich HSH, Jack-Russel nicht gleich Jack Russel und Schäferhund nicht gleich Schäferhund ist. Es ist richtig dass ein kleiner drahtiger, fast schon pinscherartiger Pitbullterrier von 16 kg der für Hundekämpfe gezüchtet wurde und ein Austellungs-AmStaff, ein 40 kg schwerer American Bully allesamt englische und irische Kampfhunde zum Vorfahren haben. Doch kämpft der eine locker 2 Stunden in der Arena während der andere nach 15 Minuten aufgibt oder aus der Pit gefegt wird. Ebenso ein auf Schönheit getrimmter Sibirische Husky aus Ausstellungszucht, der durch seine bestechend blauen Augen Ausstellungspreise abräumt aber anders als seine Cousins in der Tundra Sibiriens keinen Blumentopf als Arbeitshund oder bei einem 500 Meilen Schlittenrennen gewinnt. Doch haben beide Schlittenhunde zum Vorfahren. Und selbiges gilt für Herdenschutzhund und Jagdhunde. Ein Hund ist nur so lange ein Kampfhund, Herdenschutzhund, Jagdhund oder Hütehund wie er, seine Vorfahren und seine Nachkommen für eine bestimmte Aufgabe selektiert wurde, ausgebildet wird und nur diejenigen sich vermehren die für die Aufgabe tauglich sind. So wie ein von Afro-Amerikaner aus der Bronx sich nicht automatisch im Senegal wohlfühlt, weiß wie man Hirse zubereitet und Löwen tötet nur weil seine Vorfahren vor 300 Jahren von dort gegen ihren Willen verschleppt wurden. Auch wenn er gegenüber mir russlanddeutschem Weißbrot den Vorteil hat nicht sofort von der afrikanischen Sonne ohne Lichtschutzfaktor 50 komplett gegrillt zu werden. So ist es auch mit Herdenschutzhunden. Ein HSH ist ein Hund der durch sorgfältige Auslese, das Vorbild der Eltern und Sozialisierung und Ausbildung durch Menschen dazu gemacht wird.
