Providing good practice, assessing risk and ensuring a safe cricket environment are key aspects of coaching and it is vital that players are provided with a developmental, safe and fun experience. These guidelines are published by the ECB to promote appropriate best practice, standards and safety both indoors and outdoors in practice and matches at all levels of the game. It is appreciated that even if the guidelines are followed exhaustively, this will not prevent all injuries. Cricket is an intrinsically dangerous game and the elimination of all risk is not possible. Accidents will always happen. Participants in the game accept the risk individually and/or through their parents if minors. It is believed, however, that by following the guidelines, the risk of serious injury to players and spectators can be significantly reduced. These guidelines provide information on the following areas: . Practice Facilities . Indoor Nets . Outdoor Nets . Outfield Practice . Net Coaching . Bowling Machine Guidelines . Fielding Machine Guidelines . Net Discipline . Definition of a Hard Ball . -

NSCA Return to Play Protocol
Return to play plan – Nova Scotia Cricket Association Introduction In preparing this plan, NSCA consulted with Sport NS, Cricket Newfoundland & Labrador, Cricket New Brunswick, Cricket PEI, Quebec Cricket Federation, medical professionals, and national body Cricket Canada. In addition, it was reviewed by Ingleton Liburd, General Manager of Cricket Canada, with input from various other provinces within Canada. The plan was prepared by a committee of the National Board and approved by the NSCA Board in a meeting on May 31st 2020. About cricket While NSCA is a PSO affiliated with Sport NS, Cricket is not well known in the province, it may be useful to outline the main aspects of the sport to assist in evaluating this plan. It is a bat and ball game without physical contact, with typical distances of more than 2m between players. It is closely analogous to softball and baseball. In Nova Scotia the game, as organized by and under the purview of NSCA, is played only on the Halifax Commons which makes enforcing the control mechanisms effective. Our programmes have two main components when normally carried out: Practice Practice takes place with variable numbers of High Performance (HP) athletes. The main practice facility is Spryfield Lions Gym (Indoors) and Ridgecliffe Middle School (Playground) for physical training. There are also “nets' ' within the batting cages – at the Warehouse (private facility in Lower Sackville), where at a lane each where a single batsman will practice against 3-4 bowlers taking turns to bowl at them. In addition fielding practice will take place at Ridgecliffe Middle School playground where about 20 participants practice fielding, catching and throwing, usually widely spaced. -

Race and Cricket: the West Indies and England At
RACE AND CRICKET: THE WEST INDIES AND ENGLAND AT LORD’S, 1963 by HAROLD RICHARD HERBERT HARRIS Presented to the Faculty of the Graduate School of The University of Texas at Arlington in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT ARLINGTON August 2011 Copyright © by Harold Harris 2011 All Rights Reserved To Romelee, Chamie and Audie ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS My journey began in Antigua, West Indies where I played cricket as a boy on the small acreage owned by my family. I played the game in Elementary and Secondary School, and represented The Leeward Islands’ Teachers’ Training College on its cricket team in contests against various clubs from 1964 to 1966. My playing days ended after I moved away from St Catharines, Ontario, Canada, where I represented Ridley Cricket Club against teams as distant as 100 miles away. The faculty at the University of Texas at Arlington has been a source of inspiration to me during my tenure there. Alusine Jalloh, my Dissertation Committee Chairman, challenged me to look beyond my pre-set Master’s Degree horizon during our initial conversation in 2000. He has been inspirational, conscientious and instructive; qualities that helped set a pattern for my own discipline. I am particularly indebted to him for his unwavering support which was indispensable to the inclusion of a chapter, which I authored, in The United States and West Africa: Interactions and Relations , which was published in 2008; and I am very grateful to Stephen Reinhardt for suggesting the sport of cricket as an area of study for my dissertation. -

UPDATED GUIDANCE FOR PERMITTED OUTDOOR CRICKET ACTIVITY IN WALES th From 27 March 2021 SUMMARY Following the latest Welsh Government announcement, Cricket Wales and The England and Wales Cricket Board have updated our guidance to reflect the latest measures. This guidance replaces the previous guidance issued from 13th March. From Saturday 27 March: • You can use outdoor cricket nets with members of your household or support bubble, or with people from one other household, as long as the total number of people engaging in cricket activity is no more than 6 (excluding any carers or children under 11 from either of those households as they do not count towards the group size limit). • One to one coaching can resume. The coach counts as one household meaning that the other participants (up to 3) must be from the same household as each other (excluding any carers or children under 11 from either households). • Social distancing rules must be observed. • Clubs should refer to Part 2 for guidance on the preparation of their ground and safe installation of nets. • The end of stay local guidance, meaning that you can travel to play permitted outdoor cricket anywhere in Wales. For under 18s (persons who were aged under 18 on 31 August 2020), this means organised outdoor cricket activity can take place anywhere in Wales. ‘Outdoor organised cricket activity’ is defined as: Sport which is formally organised by a qualified instructor, club, national governing body, company or charity and follows sport-specific guidance. If the sport is not organised by one of these groups (for example, some friends having a hit in the nets) or the sport’s NGB guidance is not being followed (for example, a cricket club ignoring the ECB’s safety measures), this is considered to be informal or self- organised sport and must abide by the social gathering limits. -

Guide for Players Safe Return to Training Directives
Safe Return to Training Directives GUIDE FOR PLAYERS RETURN TO TRAINING – GUIDE FOR PLAYERS PHASE 2 (ROI) / STEP 2 (NI) Sport provides great mental and physical health benefits for our society, and cricket is no exception. However, we all have a duty of care to ensure that our cricket clubs operate within a safe environment. This practical guide for players has been developed in consultation with medical experts and in line with both ROI and NI Executive Government Guidelines. It outlines the robust measures Cricket Ireland and the Provincial Unions strongly recommend clubs to implement and maintain to help safeguard all members during the COVID-19 pandemic. This will allow all of us to get back to training safely, improving the wellbeing of members across Ireland. The guidelines in this document relate to Phase 2 of the Irish Governments Roadmap for Reopening Society and Step 2 of the Northern Ireland Executive Approach to Decision Making. The key to success will be the collective approach to compliance with the protocols, and there is no obligation for clubs to re-open if they feel they cannot meet their health and safety obligations. As always follow the Government Guidelines of Good Hand Hygiene – Respiratory Etiquette – Social Distancing. Whilst all coaches and players will be extremely keen to start playing it is imperative that coaches set an example and follow these guidelines to ensure that the risk of infection/transmission of the virus is minimised. PLAYERS Before return to any activity please remember you must stay at home if you: Have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
