Vibrant, sweet, bubbly, and creative, Hailey Schafer was a beautiful young person to know and to love. Her endless sparkling charm and winning smile brought light to so many. Never one to hold a grudge or complain, Hailey always looked on the bright side of life and conquered any challenge sent her way. She leaves behind many warm memories for her loved ones to cherish forever. The year 2007 brought about the very first iPhone, the final Harry Potter book in the popular series, as well as Miley Cyrus concert tickets selling for twenty-thousand dollars! Shelly Schafer and Troy Timm welcomed home their own special star, Hailey Marie, on June 5, 2007. Right from the start, her strong will to survive was revealed when at just a couple of months old, Hailey came down with a rare pneumonia. As a result of an immune deficiency, she required a bone marrow transplant just before her second birthday. Other than a few side effects, Hailey fought through like a champ! At a young age, Hailey’s spunky personality shined! She loved the color pink and found herself immersed in anything involving the arts. Hailey loved to draw with sidewalk chalk outside well into her later years. She also loved to color on her iPad and sing to any Justin Bieber or /Miley Cyrus song! In order to learn all the words, she would play songs over and over and over again! She also loved the Beach Boys and country singer, Thomas Rhett. As much as she thrived in her many special interests, Hailey also was close to her family. She loved playing cards and joining in board games during family game nights. One summer, they took their motorhome on a family vacation to the Jellystone campground making the best of memories. A lover of any time they were together, Hailey loved celebrations and holidays. A true testimony of her free spirit and jovial nature, whatever holiday was next, was always her favorite! Her family was very important to her. Even from her early years, nothing ever seemed to ruffle her feathers. Hailey was always focused on the goodness in life and in others. When she was recently diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a very rare and very aggressive cancerous tumor in her brain, she leaned on her music and artwork for escape. A lover of all animals, her family knew the perfect idea to lift her spirits during her rigorous treatments. They arranged for a pony, baby goats, and other animals to come into the house to visit her when she was home recovering. These animals joined the numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends as Hailey’s Herd and were there for her during the many ups and downs of the past several months. Her family’s loving care helped guide her through her tough days, but it was Hailey’s own strength that pulled her back up ready to face each new day. She wanted nothing more than others to be happy. Whenever she was in the hospital, Hailey loved to quiz the nursing staff on their knowledge of her heartthrob, Justin Bieber! She really got a kick out of entertaining others and making them laugh. Hailey’s sweet demeanor was infectious. Like many teens, Hailey had a real interest in pop culture and any latest social media craze. A sign of her outgoing personality, she loved to make Tik Tok videos. A highlight during recent years was the meeting of who plays Jessie on the popular Disney Plus show titled, Jessie! Through the Make A Wish Foundation, Hailey was able to chat over Zoom, an online platform, with Debby and even had a chance to meet Debby’s dog! Hailey was hooked on Disney Plus. She loved the movie series, Pitch Perfect as well as watching countless episodes of Full House and Fuller House. A lover of stuffed animals, at times, it was hard to even spot Hailey among her collection in her bedroom! Her family often joked that her bedroom resembled a local zoo! Her most special one was a duck named Debby who accompanied Hailey to every doctor visit (Debby even had her own radiation mask for their treatments together)! Sadly, Hailey is gone too soon. There is no doubt that her warm spirit and positive energy will be deeply missed by her special friends and loved ones. Humble and selfless, Hailey left a large impact on her community in the short amount of time she was given. May her family be reminded of her immense courage and the many loving ways she touched their lives.
