LET’S HEAR IT FROM THE KIDS AS NICKELODEON’S 2014 KIDS’ CHOICE AWARD NOMINEES ARE ANNOUNCED Nickelodeon’s biggest event gets four brand-new UK categories Winners to be announced at star-studded ceremony hosted by Hollywood heavyweight Mark Wahlberg Last year fans around the world cast a record-breaking 387 million votes London, 25th February 2014 – One Direction, Lewis Hamilton, Tom Daley and vlogger Tanya Burr are amongst those who have received nominations today for Nickelodeon’s 27th annual Kids’ Choice Awards. As of today kids can visit kca.nick.co.uk to place their vote across eight UK specific and 22 international categories and winners will be announced during a slime-filled event hosted by Hollywood heavyweight Mark Wahlberg on Sunday 30th March at 5:30pm. This year promises to be bigger than ever, with the addition of four brand-new categories for the UK. For the first-time internet sensations Zoella, Tanya Burr, Charlie McDonnell and Marcus Butler will be battling it out for Favourite UK Vlogger. As well as having their say, UK kids themselves have the chance to be recognised as Directioners, Mahomies, Arianators and The Wanted fans will battle it out to win UK Favourite Fan Family. Football players feature for the first time in the awards with Theo Walcott, Steven Gerrard, Gareth Bale and Wayne Rooney up for UK Favourite Football star. UK Favourite Sports Star returns in 2014 with Tom Daley defending his title against Nicola Adams, Laura Robson and F1 star Lewis Hamilton. Musically, One Direction and The Wanted will again thrash it out again for UK Favourite Band but this year face competition from X-Factor alumni Union J and Little Mix. The final new category for this year is UK Favourite Breakthrough Act where either The Vamps, Neon Jungle, Little Nikki or Elyar Fox will be victorious as the newcomer who has made the biggest impact in 2013. Fans can tune in from 5:00pm on Sunday 30th March to catch Diversity dance supremos Perri Kiely and Jordan Banjo getting all of the orange carpet gossip before the main event kicks off at 5:30pm. In television, Sam & Cat stars Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande, Bridgit Medler (Good Luck Charlie) and Debby Ryan (Jessie) will compete for Favourite TV Actress, with their respective shows Sam & Cat, Good Luck Charlie, Jessie, facing The Big Bang Theory for Favourite TV Show. First-time nominees Benjamin Flores, Jr. (The Haunted Hathaways) and Jack Griffo (The Thundermans) will face off against last year’s KCA winner for Favourite TV Actor, Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally), and 2012 winner, Jake Short (A.N.T. Farm) for the coveted blimp. Tributes, superheroes and Smurfs dominate the movie categories, with The Hunger Games franchise receiving four nominations for Favourite Movie, Favourite Book, and Jennifer Lawrence for Favourite Movie Actress and Favourite Female Buttkicker. Iron Man 3 isn’t far behind with three nods for Favourite Movie and Robert Downey, Jr. for Favourite Movie Actor and Favourite Male Buttkicker. The Smurfs 2 also nabbed three nominations for Favourite Movie, Neil Patrick Harris for Favourite Movie Actor and Jayma Mays for Favourite Movie Actress. Musical sensations One Direction and Katy Perry return as nominees in the same categories they took home blimps in last year. One Direction will face off against Maroon 5, One Republic and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for Favourite Music Group, while Katy Perry takes on Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift for Favourite Female singer. Former Kids’ Choice Awards host, Justin Timberlake, who is no stranger to slime, will take on contenders Bruno Mars, Pitbull and Pharrell Williams for Favourite Male Singer.
