The Dubai Metro is the longest fully automated railway system in the world. Due to the rapidly-growing population and severe traffic congestion the building of an urban railway system was absolutely essential. This additional public transport system will have a peak-hour capacity of more than 11,000 passengers per hour in each direction. With a workforce of 30,000 it took only four years to complete the Red Line with a length of 52 kilometres.

Architect: Atkins, (UK)

For the metro line a theme has been used for the interior. The Red Line is based on a fire scheme fit- out. The opening event for the Red Line took place on 2009-09-09. Lindner´s Artline System 30,000 m² of the ceiling systems are finished with ARTline, an economically priced wooden optic décor for interior and exterior ceiling systems. ARTline wood surface is created by a complex powder coating process that fulfil your requirements regarding cooling capacity and fire security. The coating has proven to be UV-resistant and shows high durability against different chemicals and solvents. To improve the acoustic in the installation area, ARTline metal ceilings are also available with a variety of perforation patterns and acoustical backings. At Dubai Metro we have used customised perforation patterns.

8 For this project our joint venture Lindner-Depa carried out the complete interior fit-out of the metro stations. With a total contract value of more than 75 million Euros it has been the biggest order for Lindner-Depa in the section of railway projects.

For this challenging project with many different trades Lindner- Depa accomplished this high-tech metro station with the complete interior fit-out.

At this project we were awarded with several main construction works. Pressure and suction resistance ceiling system Parts of the 25,000 m² metal ceilings had to be customized to achieve a pressure and suction resistance performance. The main part of the subway station consists of a hall made of glass, which gives the building a light-flooded image. This very appealing structure granted a national tribute and the original plans of using the station for short distance traffic has been extended for express trains.

This extensive project enabled Lindner to manufacture and install 3,000 m² of ceiling claddings – made of stainless steel with mirror-finish surface, and to carry out all electrical works and lighting. Some of the highlights are the ceiling panels with satin-finish glass inserted in vertical sections of the ceiling as well as the facades at the passageway as a frame construction. The facades at the railway tracks have been accomplished with clear glass.
