Definition

Supervision
Duties are performed under the direction of an Executive Director of Schools. Work is reviewed in terms of compatibility with program goals and plans in assigned areas of responsibility. Direct supervision is exercised over professional, technical, and support staff assigned to the school to which assigned.

This is the highest level of administration and supervision at an elementary school.
Essential Functions of the Class
Supervise the school’s education program. Assume responsibility for the implementation and observance of all board policies and regulations by the school’s staff and students. Supervise all professional, paraprofessional, administrative and nonprofessional personnel attached to the school. Assist in the hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating of the school professional staff. Assume responsibility for the safety and administration of the school plant. Assist in the in-service orientation and training of teachers, with special responsibility for staff administrative procedures and instructions. Supervise the preparation of all school reports for the central office. Assume responsibility for attendance, conduct, and health of students. Assist in the management and preparation of the school budget. Supervise the maintenance of accurate progress and attendance records for students. Act as liaison between the school and the community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging community participation in school life.
