Production Stage Manager The Charlottetown Festival is an ensemble repertory theatre company operating on the traditional, unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq as part of the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Founded in 1964, The Charlottetown Festival is one of the longest running theatre festivals in the country, and holds the Guinness World Record for the longest running annual musical theatre production for our flagship production of Anne of Green Gables – The Musicaltm – about to enter its 56th consecutive season! A leading Canadian cultural centre that inspires creativity, dialogue, and collaboration, the Confederation Centre’s The Charlottetown Festival is recruiting a seasonal, full time Production Stage Manager to join our Festival Management team. Reporting to the General Manager of Theatre, the Production Stage Manager is responsible for maintaining exceptional standards of performance in the stage management department. The Production Stage Manager will oversee the stage management of the Festival’s four repertory productions, acting as the stage manager and/or assistant stage manager for two of the productions. The Production Stage Manager oversees all functions of the department including: • Independently manage a stage management team of 3-5 persons annually; • The recruitment and training of stage management apprentices, and the guidance of their work through specific projects; • Aid in the creation and management of the Festival rehearsal schedule and effective interdepartmental communication in collaboration with a large musical production team and as a part of the Centre; • Co-ordination and publication of daily rehearsal schedules for a season of up to 6 productions plus ancillary events, such as but not limited to, workshops, production meetings, ensemble classes, Young Company talkback sessions and classes, new play workshops, readings and promotional appearances; • Working in partnership with the Associate Producer towards the well-being of our Ensemble; • Contributing to various Centre departments and committees; such as but not limited to, Healthy and Safety, Performing Arts, Marketing, CCOA Wellness; • Consulting on stage management assignments for the season. The successful candidate will: • Have 5 to 7 years of professional production stage management or stage management experience; • Have experience working as part of a repertory company and large scale musical productions; • has some ability to read scores; • possess excellent people, communication, leadership, organizational, and multi-tasking skills. • Be a flexible, keen collaborator with a sense of humour and, • Be fluent with the CTA.
