AGENDA – SPECIAL MEETING STREET TREE COMMITTEE Location: Coronado Public Services 101 B Avenue Tuesday, September 30, 2014 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. STREET TREE COMMITTEE MISSION STATEMENT: “The Coronado Street Tree Committee serves as an advisory committee to the City Council and to City Staff working to maintain, improve, renew and protect the urban forest in public rights- of-way, as well as to share information with the public, to enhance appreciation of trees, promote proper tree care and to encourage participation in the development of Coronado's urban forest.” COMMITTEE BOARD MEMBERS Caroleen Williams, Chair Marvin Heinze, Vice Chair Shannon Player, Member Nancy Cuddy, Member Michele Stiny, Member PRELIMINARIES 1. ROLL CALL 2. COMMUNICATIONS – ORAL Each person wishing to speak before the Street Tree committee on any matter not on the agenda, please notify Chairperson Caroleen Williams, state your name, and make your statement. State law generally precludes the Committee Board from discussing or acting on any topic initially raised during oral communications. Discuss replacement tree options and approve replacement tree along the 100 block of E Avenue. A. Staff recommended action – Approve Brisbane Box (Lophostemon conferta) as the replacement tree. B. Alternative action – Approve one of three staff recommended Eucalyptus tree species below to the City’s approved street tree list (“Restricted Use” tree list) and approve as the replacement tree: i. Ghost Gum (Corymbia papuana a.k.a. Eucalyptus papuana) ii. Lemon Scented Gum (Corymbia citriodora a.k.a. Eucalyptus citriodora) iii. Silver Dollar Gum (Eucalyptus polyanthemos) C. Alternative action – Approve tree variety presented by Street Tree Committee members or members of the public to the City’s approved street tree list (“Restricted Use” tree list) and approve as the replacement tree.
