PRESSEMELDING Oslo 2. november 2016 BFGoodrich returnerer til Rally Dakar BFGoodrich, dekkprodusenten som skapte det første radialdekket for terrengkjøring i 1976, har bestemt seg for å returnere til Rally Dakar i 2017 som offisiell dekkleverandør. Når Rally Dakar går av stabelen i Asunción, Paraguay, i januar er det første gang siden 2012 at BFGoodrich sine dekk er tilbake på racerbilene i stor skala. Samtidig vil dekkprodusenten stille med et eget servicesenter, hvor de vil tilby deltakerne eksperthjelp 24 timer i døgnet. Weapons of the Weak in Portugal during the Early 20th Century: The Example of the Central Alentejo1 Jesús-Ángel Redondo Cardeñoso2 Abstract This article explores James C. Scott’s concept of weapons of the weak, taking advantage of the possibilities of applying it to the social history of rural Portugal. Using the example of the Central Alentejo region during the early twentieth century, I analyze the characteristics of the most common types of daily resistance practiced by the lower classes in the region (such as stealing acorns and olives or poaching and livestock trespassing), specifically focusing on their social aspects as an act of resistance. To do this, I use newspaper reports and archive material from the district authorities as well as documentation on the cases tried at the Arraiolos District Court during the ten-year period between 1908 and 1918. Resumo No seguinte texto aprofundaremos no estudo do conceito armas dos fracos (weapons of the weak) de James C. Scott, para aproveitar as potenciais possibilidades da sua aplicação na história social rural portuguesa. Por meio do exemplo do Alentejo Central nos inícios do século XX, analisaremos as caraterísticas das práticas de resistência quotidiana mais comuns executadas pelas classes populares da região (furto de bolotas e azeitonas, caça furtiva e invasão de gados), e especificamente mostraremos o seu carater social e de resistência. Para isso, utilizaremos documentação jornalística e arquivística da administração distrital, assim como as causas judiciais do Tribunal de Comarca de Arraiolos durante a década de 1908 até 1918. -

Author | Sara do Nascimento Duarte Mariz Advisor | Nuno Magalhães Guedes Dissertation submitted in partial fulfillment of requirements for the degree of MSc in Business Administration, at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, January 2013 ABSTRACT Founded in 2009, through the merger of two companies (Sumolis and Compal), SUMOL+COMPAL is the Portuguese leading company in the non-alcoholic beverages market. Due to its long history, most of the company’s products are somehow etched in the memory of the Portuguese. As a result of this merger, the product portfolio increased significantly, all the synergies created contributed to its success and the company achieved in 2011 a turnover of 331.6 million euros, a lower value than the one achieved in the previous year. Manuel Lopes, SUMOL+COMPAL’s CEO, was building a powerful Portuguese company; nevertheless, it had the potential to be even greater. Company’s sales were suffering a decrease and in the year of 2011, Portuguese sales volume dropped by 9.1%. The economic downturn, the competitive environment and the emergency of private labels were motives to rethink the company’s strategy. The differentiation strategy adopted in Portugal was being questioned, as well as the passive presence in international markets. Unlike the domestic market, sales in foreign countries had increased by 30%. Given this indicator, why not to increase the investment in those markets? The hypothesis of adopting a more aggressive internationalization strategy in order to contribute to the company’s growth is one of the central issues of this study. The other crucial aspect of analysis is related to the company’s strategy in the Portuguese market. -
