The visa is issued by the French consulate in your country of origin. You must apply for a «long stay» visa which is the only visa through which you can obtain a resident permit (carte de séjour). Please note: if you are planning to follow two cour- ses one after the other, register for both before applying for your visa, so that it may be granted for your whole stay. A French visa cannot be modified on French national territory. On 1 January 2007, the CEF merged with Espaces Edu- France, becoming Espaces CampusFrance, unique offices for any student who is planning to study in France. If there is a CEF in your country, you must follow the CEF proce- dure and fill in your application online. This procedure is compulsory to obtain your visa from the embassy. If you do not go through this step, your visa application will be automatically denied.
